I showed my DH this thread & the pictures and he hates the shabby chic look.
    I was alarmed..I am planning a lot of shabby-chicing!
I dont know where to start with undercoats and wax and such though.

I was going to show my OH it last night but thought better of it for that exact reason, so instead I'm going to start sneaking little bits in slowly and hopefully he won't notice until it's too late :D It's not like he's interested in interior design anyway, everytime I ask him if he wants any say in how the house looks he sas he's not bothered so I've interpreted that as 'I can make it look how I want'
D'you know, in 900 years of space and time, I've never met anyone who wasn't important

I'm lucky, my OH couldn't care less how the house is decorated so I'm free to do what I like. In fact my OH doesn't even really notice the decor, 2 days after I'd taken the Christmas tree and decorations down in the sitting room he asked if I'd changed anything because it looked different. :rotfl:

Hi all, i love this thread :)

I never show DH anything, the answer is either 'Uh', 'Hmm' or 'Eww its like a granny's house' so i just go ahead and do my own thing, luckily hes not bothered about the house so i have full say over all interiors :D

Our kitchen is almost done finally, gonna take some pics to show you all, its kind of shabby/vintage/retro/country style, lots of polka dots (i have a serious obsession with all things dotty). Its a long, narrow kitchen so hard to photograph but i'll try asap

OOh are they the Morrisons tins? Can you remember the prices please?
Now that I've actually read what you wrote I can see they are, I get a little carried away when I see a link

    Hi Hermum

The biscuit barrel was £6 and the cake tins £6 for the two, the little blue one was inside the cream one which i didn't know about til i got home and opened it, i got excited in the shop and put them straight in the trolley and didn't read the label which said it was a set of 2 :D

DH hates them but doesn't seem to complain when they're filled with HM goodies lol

Yep, I can hear Morrisons calling me, it will be my treat for going to the tip in the pouring rain after walking the dog in the pouring rain.
    Thank you

For any of you lovelies that like Cath Kidston the free shopping tote is on the Easy Living Magazine June 2010 (£3.50) - I think it came out today. The magazine is not brill but the bag is quite cute, if a little plasticky, you also get the new CK magazine.

    Hi everyone!
I don't know if anyone is near Liverpool but Lewis's is closing down and has a lot of Shabby Chic things reduced. There's no Dizzy Dizzy discounts yet because I think they only announced it a few weeks ago and it's mainly knick-knacks - no decent furniture unfortunately :(
They also have a lot of the V & A - bedspreads and stuff reduced from £50 to £20, definitely worth a nosey!
On another note, any ideas on where I can get three decent bookcases from - preferably in a lightish wood like Pine? I know it's not technically Shabby Chic but it's to do with getting something cheap so it's kinda relevant. I'm in Crewe and there doesn't seem to be any Freecycles I can sign up, I tried the Liverpool one but they said my postcode was too far out :(

sent you a pm with the crewe freecycle link x

If you search 'sample' in the search box all the fabric samples available come up :)

I have done this but only seem to able to order one sample at a time. Is it me?

had my CK mag come today.

feeel even more inspired. i'm personally not too keen on the clothes. bit to virginal and old fashioned style for me. but wow wow wow to the kitchen items. saw some nice tea towles which would make good cushions as rose kitten did. but i like very much the pastal ck cutlery.
