I am seriously thinking about giving up on freecycle.
I think I will just use it for stuff that people want like Oh got rid of an old bed cos someone wanted one.

Soneone gave us a cot but it was totally unusable due to a major part being missing :(

Of course the offerer should specify a pick up time! i am not going to stay on all day to wait for someone who may or may not turn up!

I am a hair's breadth from not bothering anymore too.

My last three items I was gifting I have been messed about in one way or another (that's the last three in a row) which includes a no show last weekend for an item I am currently sitting on my hands waiting for someone to collect who has 4 minutes left to also be a second no show for the same item having been given a second bite at the cherry as 1st person chosen no showed.

If this guy no shows too I think I will take the view that freecycle can take their community and lodge it very, very deeply into a certain bodily orifice - lets hope he turns up.

woo hoo :j:jhe turned up with a minute to spare and was a nice pleasant guy :j:j

I like it when it works :D:D

I know that's the thing, some people are so nice and clearly genuine. One woman came to collect a hot wheels set today whe had put a wanted on our local freecycle. her little boy was SO pleased. Once i gave someone a computer keyboard and i got a lovely thankyou card from them.
Our local mods have now come to the decision of putting a cap on the number of wanteds any individual can post in a month. Also they are clamping down on posts like 'wanted - garden stuff' or 'kitchen stuff' y'know the general/non-specific wants. there are things i need but I cant be bothered to post, and our local charity shpp has done very well out of us lately, as I am decluttering in preparation for the arrival of baby saver in a few weeks!

the last thing I freecycled was a breadmaker that I originally picked up from freecycle. The lady was absolutely lovely, especially when I had to get her to explain who she was (I have a shocking memory). She was very grateful and even brought me two bunches of flowers to say thanks you. she explain that she felt awful coming empty handed. I explained I was just glad to send it to a good home as it was taking up space in my small kitchen!

8 takers for a single bed my colleague wanted rid of. She's moving so I asked nicely if only serious people contacted me.

Offered to 1, deserving sounding, very keen, 'collect anytime'
    No reply
Offered to 2, also deserving sounding, 'collect anytime'
    No reply
Getting peed off, had had a follow-up from one of the original responders, so I thought - he's keen - sent an offer.
    No reply.

Sent an email to the remaining 5 responders, laid on the guilt a bit about the timewasters, gave them all friend's mobile and let them sort it out  FINALLY she got some calls and got rid of the bed.

Shouldn't be that hard to give something away, fgs!
    My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j
  • WANTED AD IN MY LOCAL FREECYCLE SITE
    WANTED: Petite Star Zia pushchair
My friend has fallen in love with this pushchair. She lives in an area
where the buses have no pushchair access and really struggles with a
big heavy travel system. I really want to do something nice for her as
she's been having a hard time since the birth of her little girl.

Does anybody possibly have this pushchair that they would be willing
to let go? Any would be considered regardless of location, color or
    condition!

WHAT ON EARTH IS WRONG WITH ANY PUSHCHAIR TO REQUEST A SPECIFIC MODEL WHAT ON EARTH IS SHE ON.
OH YES I HAVE SEVERAL OF THESE IN MY UNDERSTAIRS CUPBOARD !!!!!

seems to be cheeky, greedy take the mickey week round my neck of the woods - between the various one's I am member of in the last 24 hours there have been requests for:

Trailer or 4 berth caravan (not quite sure how the two can serve the same purpose  but still)
    cooker
    fridge/freezer
    washing machine
    freezer
settee AND matching chair oh and they also wanted a double and a single bed too
    another washing machine and

bedroom furniture - We are in need of Double bed and mattress, Wardrobe
    Chests of drawers.

So white goods and furniture seem to be popular items to request this weekend
