The Group I know of ,Glasgow,Is completely moderated,Offers,Wants and Pictures in folders

Photo's I can understand, there is no way to unmoderate them for specific users, it's all or nothing.

Offers and Wanted should not be moderated once you prove you know the rules and you are not a spammer, as I said before look at http://www.freecycle.org/faq/manual/contact for details of the GOA to contact to pass your complaint the the "area manager".

I usually give items, and rarely respond to offereds unless its something I could make use of.
I picked up a great little midi hifi unit yesterday - mine had died a death and was so grateful for this. Lovely lady, who said it was so nice to have received a polite e-mail without a sob story, and had rejected loads of 'I'll have it, where are you' types of e-mails.
The chap who didn't pick up the chair I'd offered him sent a very nice e-mail of apology - clearly genuine reason for not being able to pick up. He came the following day for it with a bunch of flowers for me :D

  • Im new to freecycle but think its a great site. Have experienced loads of people not turning up for items as many of you have, its such a pain. I have put a couple of wanted adds on in the space of a short time, but for every wanted add i post i place a offered add to keep the balance and to not appear like i am abusing the system, is this still breaking the rules, and will i get into trouble for this???? I keep a note of who has taken my item, so i can prove im not making up the offered adds.

    "does any1 have a 3piece suite or even a 3 a 2 and a 1seater that they
would like to see given to a good home? it must be in very good
condition and preferably neutral colour [plain]biege or brown or
black . larger the better as it is for a big family. we would be very
very grateful believe, thankyou all i hope we are lucky this way as
each time i mail someone who has advertised they have been taken.we
live in gloucester and can arrange to pick up when ever suits you if
    we like it"

im all for people giving stuff for free to a good home but surely if your wanting a 3 piece suite then your not going to say "if we like it" the colour wont matter if your asking for a freebie

I have just been through my emails and have noticed that someone has put a wanted for an Aston Martin DB9!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am not sure if they are taking the mickey or not.

Our freecycle is getting horrendous I have offered loads of stuff but people only want it if it is valuable. Also I put a wanted on for dolls clothes, which I don't feel is overly excessive and I got absolutly no replies.
    Loving the dtd thread. x

Now that really is taking the proverbial
There's often requests for leather suites on one of my groups - and they're very particular about colour and MUST be in a good condition. I always feel tempted to point them towards DFS or similar :D

I offered several things in one listing today. Within 5 minutes of the post appearing on the group, I got an e-mail saying 'I'll take them all off your hands' (sum total of message) I replied saying 'actually, no you won't' :D

It is also, unless I am very much mistaken, against freecycle rules.

I especially like that they will collect if IF they like it.

I'm pretty sure it will have been a pee take/ wind up by someone as fed up as some of us of the serial scroungers/mikey takers and I think it's pretty funny - been tempted to do the same myself as a sarcastic dig at the scroungers and the mods that don't do anything about the scroungers
