well I offered up an item at weekend and for my 3rd offer on the run I have been messed about in some way - this time a no show. So I have offered to another interested party.

Sadly I am now wondering whether to bother with it any more or give it up as a bad job :think:

I'll reflect over next few days

ive been having a good giggle reading over these posts since i last looked about a month ago - im glad im not the only one totally fed up with freecycle!! :mad: :mad:
i get the e mails on daily digest, and im shocked seeing it like that, how many wants there are - more than there are for stuff being offered!! someone was looking for a silver cooker, silver washing machine & silver fridge freezer for her sister the other day - would plain old white not do!?!? :mad: and how many peole have millions of electrical goods lying around, just waiting on some stingy effer to demand them on freecycle!! im also sick of seeing people asking for cars, motorbikes, and the sob stories really gall me 'i need a laptop for my relative who has broken their ankle and cant leave the house and is bored' - play a board game them!! :mad:

You get some amazing replies to offereds - if they contain certain phrases, they're guaranteed to get deleted straightaway ie

I'll have it - where r u (and I can't abide text speak anyway)
Any containing sob stories
I'll take it/them off your hands
Ring me so I can pick it/them up
I need it/them delivering
Anything without a please or thankyou

We don't get too many 'wanteds' on our group since the Mods clamped down, but did email them about Satnavperson who must've slipped through their net - when I did a search, I found he/she had posted 12 wanteds in the last 3 months, and always wanted them for her sick inlaws/sick friends/sick child/sick budgie etc

My word Pam we are defo on the same page agree with everything you've said right down to the text speak thing :mad::mad::mad: I absolutely abhor it - I'm not even keen on it on mobile phones

should offerers specify a pickup timeslot / mode of transport for wanters? i thought the whole idea was to get rid of stuff, to a welcome new home.. not dictate how the wantee collects it..

if people are getting so green-ist(?), perhaps they should turnofftheirpcandgodosomethinglessimpactiveontheenviromentinstead.

Got seriously ticked off with my local group a couple of years ago and unsuscribed.
At the time was trying to get re-established after a messy divorce and a friend recommended Freecycle for bits and pieces to help with furnishing my flat.Moderators kep changing the rules regarding ofering stuff and wants,I never got any replies when responding to offers, and the only time I posted a want it got rejected as i hadn't previously offered anything.At the time was living in an almost empty flat and didn't have anything to offer, and very politely explained my circumstances to the local moderator in some detail.They never even bothered to reply!

I am seriously thinking about giving up on freecycle.
I think I will just use it for stuff that people want like Oh got rid of an old bed cos someone wanted one.

Soneone gave us a cot but it was totally unusable due to a major part being missing

Of course the offerer should specify a pick up time! i am not going to stay on all day to wait for someone who may or may not turn up!
