But the problem is, rjtyrell is on AOL ADSL modem which I take is as the blue USB modem instead of an ethernet modem. The Belkin as the one sold by Amazon requires ADSL modem with ethernet port or cable modem. For rjtyrell to be able to use this router, he needs to have the USB modem connected to his desktop, run ICS and makes the router as a wireless access point. What he needs really is a Wireless ADSL Modem router... Misco has 3COM bundled Wireless ADSL Modem/Router for £49.98 (Misco No.: 104436) or Argos has bundled Linksys WAG354G/USB54g adaptor for the same price (in store only I guess).

Hopefully the above clear up any confusion .. DSL/Cable router will only work with Cable Modem (NTL/Telewest/AOL on NTL) or ADSL modem with ethernet port (eg: DLink DSL 300T or ADSLNation X-Modem).

I guess we trying to explain the same thing, my apologies.

hello, can someone please advice me.. i have NTL broadband/cable modem and i am looking for a wireless router which is wired as well. I mean it should work wired and wireless and should have 1 x ethernet up cable socket (which will go from the NTL cable modem to this router) and 4 x ethernet sockets to connect other computers from this router.......will this belkin router do this or have this ? thank you

thks tons for your reply...it made life a bit easier..hehe...the router i have right now..i am unable to get much signal (rather none 9 outa 10) in my bedroom upstairs when all doors are closed.....how is the signal with this belkin router ? thank you lots again mate...
  • The signal is fine for me mate, I am browsing on my pda now in bed (I work at night) and the signal is at maximum from the router which is on the same floor as me. If I go to the front room I get 4/5 signal (that's 1 solid wall, 1 stairway & the ceiling between me & the router/transmitter). Sorry, but I haven't had chance to try the signal in the back garden yet (plus - it's freezing out there :))

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker
Thought I would reply to this. I have one of the routers as shown in the picture on amazon. But didn't recognise the serial code. If its a gateway dsl router it has a modem build in (mine does) BUT had a look on the belkin uk site and this is what amazon appear to be selling a F5D7230UK4
by their description and code. This is only a router to connect one computer to another using wireless and looks different.

It looks as if something may not be quite right on the amazon site.
