Happy Birthday Beenie!
Hugs to those in need of them xxxx
Well, I took myself up to the labour ward last night (nothing exciting) but wasn't happy with the reduced amount of movement I'd felt that day so they stuck me on a monitor.
I managed to time my arrival for shift changeover  So had to wait for an hour before anyone came near me. It's amazing the horrors you can start imagining given that amount of time for your imagination to kick in *sigh*.
Baby was fine, kept kicking the monitor pads off, slightly embarrassing - but I didn't really care - was just so pleased she became active.
I was supposed to meet my little girl 9 days ago... my induction is tomorrow afternoon at 4pm, so unless a miracle happens between now and then I think the completely au naturel way is out for meI know I could refuse the induction (and I'd seriously consider it if baby wasn't engaged), but I'd rather risk further medical intervention than a degrading placenta. Hopefully, the gel on it's own might kick start something and the drip won't be needed - a girl can dream right? :rotfl:
Not looking forward to being in hospital overnight on my own, I haven't spent a single night apart from my OH for 10 years so it's going to be strange. But I keep reminding myself that not only is the greatest prize at the end of the tunnel, but the end is in sight.
Hope Claire is doing well, no news - so I reckon she's got her babe in her arms by now!
Labour vibes to those who want them!don't blow out other people's candles to make your own burn brighter...0 -
Hello everyone. I have been unable to write nor read much on here. I will explain...
My OH was having routine surgery for his gall bladder to be taken out. Basically went down for his operation (routine gall bladder removal) on Friday the 24th april at 3pm. I had to leave the hospital at 5:30 to give DS his tea and I got a call at 6:30 to say he had been rushed straight back to theatre with massive internal bleeding. They had managed to do the operation via laproscopy (which they didnt think they could due to his scars from when he had the cancer removed) and as one of the cameras had been taken out it caught on something and they didn't know obvioulsy so stiched him up. We have found out since that he lost 4 pints of blood in a really short space of time and had to be given 8 pints during his surgery. He was also given lots more IV fluids as he was under the anaesthetic longer than they woudl have wanted. The two hours of his secondary operation were a ngihtmare. The nurses kept phoning me to try to reasure me but basically when I asked if he was going to be alright I was told they 'couldn't make any promises' so I thought I was going to lose him and was facing the prospect of bringing up two children alone. I had to try to calm myself down over and over as I had to try to think of the baby - I also had to keep it together to put DS to bed as normal which was just the hardest thing I have had to do. I finally got the call at 8:30pm to say he was in recovery and they had managed to stop the bleeding but he wasn't very well so he was being taken to the High Dependancy Ward so they could monitor him carefully. He had a pulmonary edema which is when the lungs retain all the fluid. He was drowsy after the surgery and didn't know what he was saying but all he could say was that he was drowning. They had to put a mask on his which was pressurised to force the fluid from his lungs over a couple of hours which was horrible. They offered me a bed overnight next to him but I coudn't take it as had to get back for DS but it made me worry even more as to how poorly he actually was.He did make a marvellous recovery over the weekend though and all the doctors are really pleased with him. He had 2 surgeons and 4 anethatists come to see him to check how he was as they had never seen anything like it (trust him!). He now has to see a heart specialist though because they suspect that his heart isn't pumping as well as it should be because the fluid shoudl'nt have been there in his lungs in someone so young and relatively fit. It could be related to his chemotherapy but they aren't sure as at the time he had an experimental drug. He came home on monday teatime and was (and is) very drowsy and very sore. I am trying to look after him best that I can but I am really struggling and having to have lots of help. Thankfully though seems to be recovering well now.
HOWEVER since then I have had a lump in my neck and now basically can hardly move my right arm. Doc says its stress related muscle spasm and i can basically only take paracetamol to ease the pain and am stuck here with a smelly lavendar old lady smell wheat bag on my neck. It's quite gross the smell. But it hurts so much. Think I was living of adrenaline for the last couple of weeks and it's caught up with me finally.
Consequently I have been signed off work as I cant do anything. Looking after 16 mth old is tough as I am having to be single parent while also looking after my OH. Just keep bursting into tears am already hormonal and feel so stressed out. I don't want to be signed off work as I have too much to do which is addign to my stress but I can't physically even get there as I can't move my right arm away from my body.
Really really fed up. Sorry for the long post and moan. I hope all you ladies are OK and doing much better than me.0 -

I couldn't give a monkey'sMy hubby says provided I'm not his idea of fat I'll always be gorgeous
(I'd never get that big coz my idea of fat on me is smaller than his!)
Which reminds me I was weighing some stuff on the bathroom scales for ebay so hopped on myself, I was 9st 13lbs on saturday and at my booking in app I was 8st 9lbs - all sounds fine to me I weighed myself at a similar stage with Chris and was 9st 8lbs but started off lighter so I guess its about the same.
I'm not gonna do anything to lose weight or get fit until bubs is at least 9mths old so we shall see where I am then0 -

honestly there is pretty much no difference in risk to bubs in waiting until 14 days over I have read about it lots and even old fashioned-birth should be in hospital-MW agreed that it was best to wait 14 days
