Sami - it's funny we found boys' names easy but have really struggled with girls'. I like unusual, DH likes easy to spell and the two don't always go together! I also wanted (surprise surprise) quite a strong nameMFW Challenge member no. 96 - on hold!

I was trying to think what Elsa is IYKWIM is that the name of the great bear as in constellations?
xmas - we picked our boys name before we'd even started ttc but could never agree on a girls name so I spent ages thinking of them and finally got it down to 3 options only to find out its a boy
I shall share the name options
Layla-Rose
Lily-Rose
Isabella Eden
and our boy will be Edgar we're not settled on middle names but if I get my way he'll be Edgar Aled0 -

montainlioness - I was thinking about your quandry of having a girl when i read about it yesterday. When I found out I was having DD1, I was surprised as I assumed that, as a strong non-girly female myself, I was more likely to have sons than daughters. I am a well-educated female and have always wanted to be seen as a 'strong woman'' rather than a 'soft female'. My DD is obsessed with pink and fluff and flowing skirts and princesses etc (you get the picture) but that doesn't mean that she is not also a strong independent confident young girl (she's only 3!). Then I found out that DD2 is on the way and I couldn't be happier. It is our role to bring up our girls to be the best people they can be, bright or not, sporty or not, arty or not. That's what I think. Girl power!!!!0

Sami - when we saw it in the names book I immediately thought of the Born Free Elsa. DH hadn't heard of her though and when he said he really liked it we kind of thought it was a perfect fit! Unusual, easy to spell and am sure she will be a real lioness given her mum!
The Great Bear is Ursa (Major) - I think?
I love the Rose combos though my sis' 2nd name is that so it was off the agenda (DH doesn't like using family names as he thinks it's important for the kid to have his/her own identity)
Edgar's great - I love those traditional names (and it's unusual too)MFW Challenge member no. 96 - on hold!

Thanks efrieze - I agreeBoy or girl, it's a great privilege and responsibility to bring up a young man or woman to be the best they can be for themselves, their families, friends and society at large. I would find it easier to relate to an active, muddy, unfussy girl but we'll just have to suck it and see

I love lilly rose that just sounds so pretty. we went for Sophia because we liked it Francesca for my sister who passed away 18 months ago and ellanor as it joined them well with the surname wilson. all we have for a boy is xander and after the scan i just dont think he is a xander :-):jFriends are like fabric you can never have enough:j0

Mum and I are having a heart to heart this weekend, which I think will help - as much for bringing us closer together as helping me prepare for Cub. We don't really talk about my childhood much as our relationship was quite fraught (it's v good now, at least most of the time)MFW Challenge member no. 96 - on hold!
