We didn't find out our flavour and I have to say I'm still glad we didn't. Really looking forward to our surprise!

At least if it's written down you can decide later whether you want to know or not.

Good luck for the scan - I'm sure it will all be fine and you will get a lovely new picture of your baby :D

I wish I could have another scan cos I feel it's been ages since anything interesting was done to me, as it were, but if I had one now we'd see the sex so I can't have one privately cos we really don't want to know before the birth.

LOL, Jillie, no, I have an overnight bag packed and in my car. It contains...

    Nightie
    Joggers and T shirt
    Socks and knickers
    Toiletries
    Book, puzzle book and pen
and because I am 24 weeks, pads, breast pads, old knickers and nursing bra

enough to get me by a night, but really you do have to plan. I was caught out both times with the boys, so I have now the baby bag (packed with early baby stuff which will be changed to newborn at 36 weeks) and DH knows where to find the rest of the baby clothes and pads etc :D

And make up, brush face wipes are in my hand bag, phone always fully charged, keep my fuel tank at 1/2 full..... :rotfl:

    Obsessed, me??

    Great news, Jillie :D

Do you think your OH will manage to keep it quiet from you right until the birth?

that is the question. i dont think he will be able to keep it a secret. tbh he has said that he only wants to find out cos he can and he doesnt want to keep calling the baby 'baby' cos wgen he/she is born we will keep doing it rather that use their name. so i have suggested we use a nickname instead, going to work on that one tonight!

We call ours bubba, although usually I just say 'the baby'. We both think it's a boy so we refer to 'him' but I really don;t think it makes any difference!

When it's born you will call it all kinds of things - darling, sweetheart, love, lovely, baby, it's actual name, a nickname, so I think his fears are unfounded.

If he is only finding out 'because he can' then I'd say don't do it! honestly, the waiting to find out is so cool (and I am the most impatient person I know!).

We use a nickname with everyone else cos we don't want to use the name we've really chosen until he's actually here (a bit like the "Glam and Jack" thing).. although when it's just us, we do use it :)

Personally I'm happy we found out :) I was initially saying that I didn't want to know - I wanted to see that magical look on DHs face as the MW delivering the baby told him he had a little girl/boy... But DH suggested we find out and it's made life lots easier for coming up with names!
I like talking to my Roo and calling her Daddy's girl already and so on - and we refer to her as our little girl and I don't know... I just can imagine NOT knowing now :) I think for me it's made bonding with her a lot easier... Expected and wanted though she was then I think with the difficult pregnancy I might have struggled more if I hadn't been able to know what she was... does that make sense? :)

  • I'm glad we found out too - for the same reason as Mrs T. We talk about her as a little person by name, our daughter, about to join our family... ( tho we haven't gone as far as stencilling her name in her room just in case she is a he after all!)

it was also good for me I think to find out so I could think about how I felt about having a boy/girl before s/he was here (see earlier posts about pink and frillies!!)

Oh, I didn't realise how much I liked rhubarb :D Just had a big bowl of rhubarb crumble with cream of Cornish ice cream.. rhubarb was a freebie from our Occ Health Nurse :)

Still waiting for OH to come home (prob still got an hour to wait) to have my actual tea though - bolognaise sauce with pasta. M&D had it with spaghetti but I've never mastered spaghetti and it goes cold before I've finished trying to wressle it on to my fork so I always have pasta! :o:D

Now that we've told DD, & it'll be round the family like wildfire :rotfl:, we'll have to start thinking seriously about names. Loads of boys/men in DH's family, so getting hard to pick boys' names we like, girls' not so hard. Scan not until 3 June, & don't know if we'll find out flavour, but even if we do, think we'll keep it to ourselves this time & let people wait! :D
All our kids have 'normal' names, but I found myself giving them nicknames anyway - don't know why, couldn't help myself!
