Hope you're feeling better soon Tia, take some paracetamol and make sure you're getting plenty of fluids!
GISI, it could be that the softening of your ligaments that pregnancy causes could be agravating your previous back injury. I'd book an appointment with your Dr and see if you can get a refferal to physio (although it's touch and go depending on whether you'll get to see anyone before the end of the pregnancy...) Have you had a risk assesment done at work? Is there nothing you could do sitting down a bit more or could they not provide a chair for you to do your current job?A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... Back ache... yeah I had that too quite early and a battle and a half to get work to realise that I wasn't making it all up... After all I was either sat by a desk or in my car... My lower back and hips were agony till quite recently (oddly around the time I stopped work and went on annual leave...) so I can symapthise...
My best advice is to contact your GP and speak to your HR department at work. If you can't stand for long hours then maybe they can find something for you to do where you can sit down.DFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!

I wish we had a nursery, we have 2 bed house so i'm really hoping it's a boy so it can share with DS when it leaves my room. Otherwise we'll have to look at renting elsewhere.0

Thank you for your thoughts. I'll give my GP a call to get an appointment. I am worried about work though as there isn't really anything I can do that would involve less standing up. I kind of knew this would be an issue later on but hadn't expected it before I even have a bump!:DYummy mummy, runner, baker and procrastinator0

Morning,
Hugs to GISI and Tia. Sounds like everyone is in some sort of pain/discomfort today!
I have also called in sick to work due to waking up with excruciating pain in my rib cage. I am not looking for medical advice, but has anyone else suffered from this? When I googled "rib cage pain pregnancy" it seems to be something that happens nearer the end of 3rd trimester, but I am only 21 weeks. I can't decide if it's normal or if it's due to additional pressure of my massive b00bs (sorry to moan about these again!!!). It's the second time in a week that I have woken up in such pain.
Should I just accept it is normal or should I phone the doctor? Or is it the midwife I should be calling - not really sure when to call doctor and when to call midwife! I hate bothering the doctor if it's nothing to worry about.
Thanks,
x
P.S. At least I can keep up with the thread today if I am at home!0 -
If in doubt - call the doctor
ETA - I get pains in the sternum - the ligament down the middle of the ribcage -mainly when I sneeze or cough though. If that's where it is it might just be that the ligaments have loosened with the elastin floating round your system and that's what you're feeling but you really ought to get it checked just in case
Anything that is bad enough to cause you to stay home from work in my book means it's bad enough to call the doctor aboutDFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!
