I've managed to break enough phones over the years to know that phone insurance is a good plan... especially because I always go for the high end models that cost hundreds to replace lol! At this rate I'll be going back to O2 when this contract is up... !!!!!!! over 45 mins! And I want the iPhone next I think ;) hehehehe This one is the nokia N95 with 8gb for storing music and pics on hence why it's insured... good job too. Well if I ever get through!

Shell - I'd go with asking MWs to pop round to you, they can give you the dip stick to wee on so you don't need a pot to P in ;)
I know the number on a bra is the band but what I was trying to work out is what my "chest" measurement is to buy a top that came in inch sizes but it was for after bubs so I needed a way to work out my pre-preg size coz obviously if I measured it now it would be too big :D
I discovered that at a 32D my ribcage is between27-28" and across the boobies is 3" more so 30-31"

What do peep think of this cardi?? I really like it but its £30 and I'm a typical mum that will happily spend £30 on Chris but not on me :o

Sami - have you got a voucher code for Joe Browns? I'll pm you.

  • You and your cardi's Sami ;)

It's lovely...but 55% linen 45% cotton sounds like it could be hard work to look after (not just a stick in the wash and tumble-dry kinda item)...if I remember rightly you are not a big fan of ironing (no offence intended :o)

It is lovely though...it is one of the ones I had turned down the corner of the page for in the JB catalogue.

edit...oops, a little bit too late with the laundry advice lol

  • Its happy due date to me today and for a little while I almost might have had a due date baby! Although he's digging about in there and giving me some good pains I probably won't be in labour for weeks!! Not a bad thing though as my NVQ assessor is coming round tomorrow to do some work with me and I've got some double glazing people booked in for friday to repair the damage to the front door

Sami- think that cardi is nice...and you are supposed to treat YOU sometimes too!

Spinks - I can't help with the tops as I didn't order any but seeing as all the things I got were on the larger size i'd say the sizing is pretty generous, so i'd go smaller, you can always send it back and change it if it's too small?

    Hi all,

A quick question from me (I'm at work so can't hang round for long - will try and check back in at lunchtime).

Could you look over my hospital bag list and see if I've missed anything off please and whether the quantities of everything are OK? I've aimed it as if I'll be staying in for one night.

    LABOUR
    Maternity notes/birth plan
    Socks x1
    Nightdress/T-shirt
    Lip balm
    Drinks
    Cereal bars/snacks
    Cooling face spray
    Camera spare batteries!
Book/magazine (probably won't need) but maybe if I stay in overnight.
Birthing ball (I don't have one - should I get one?) there should be one in the birthing room, there was in mine and mine is the most antiquated hospital in the world! i was determined to use one but couldnt get on with it so best not to waste your money ;)
Tens machine (if I use one - haven't decided yet)
Hair band take spares, mine fell out and i couldnt find it, i have a massive frizzball in all my pics, annoyed!
    Carrier bag for labour clothes

    POST LABOUR
Dressing gown make sure its a lightweight one, those wards are roasting!!
    Slippers
    Socks x1
Front opening PJs/Nightie (is a nightie better than PJs, or is is just personal preference?) i had a nightie but would have preferred pj's, the ward was too hot and i didnt feel i could wander in nightie but would have in pj's
    Towels x2
Breast pads (will 5 pairs be enough?) should be, milk doesnt come in for about 2-3 days
Maternity pads (will 2 packs of 10 be enough?) i got through 4 packs in 2 days!! they advise you to double up and change once an hour for the first few hours.
    Knickers x4
    Nursing bra
Going home outfit make it veeery comfy, that walk to the car took longer going home than it did going in and i had to stop for two contractions in the car park going in
    Hairbrush
    Toothbrush
    Toothpaste
Make up (if I can be bothered!) you wont lol :p
    Contact lenses
    Glasses
Toiletries - shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, flannel, moisturising cream, deodorant.
    Mirror
    Tissues
    Arnica tablets
    Mobile phone

    FOR BABY
    Going home outfit
Vests x2 more, we got through 5, they puke clear dribbly amniotic fluid a few hours after birth
    Socks x2
    Scratch mittens x1 see vests
    Sleepsuits x2 see vests
    Hat
Muslin squares x2 see vests, also our hospital didnt provide changing mats so you may need them to put on the bed for changes
Blanket (is this needed?) yep, coming home if not in the ward
Dummy (or will I get evil looks if I take this?) yes but its your choice!!
Nappies (will 10 be enough?) yep, you get given loads in bounty packs etc
Nappy rash cream (will this be needed in the first day or two?)
    Nappy sacks
    Baby wipes
    Cotton wool balls
    Vaseline
Car seat (will leave in car until needed)

And a few more questions :D
    1) What are you all planning to dress your babies in when they are born? Will a sleepsuit and vest be OK?

    2) Are you packing a change of clothes/a few toiletries for your OHs? i sent OH home, the break did him good and let me sleep a bit

    3) Are you packing two bags - one for labour and one for afterwards? i did, its a good plan in theory but it all gets so jumbled up!

    4) What kind of bags do you pack things in? tesco £3 holdall lol

    5) In water birth situations, do you take a bikini top?

    xxxx
