I'm sorry for posting so much so soon. My mind is racing.

I haven't eaten all day and had one drink with aspirin. Is this normal for someone expecting the worst?

I've lost interest in everything and for the past couple of days refused to do anything, such as go out, because of fear of disrespecting my baby.

Sounds like you gave her a wonderful life.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

So sorry Miroslav :( (I haven't seen you around for a while, I hope everything else is ok).

That's one of the reason I don't have cats - my favourite and most adored animals - or dogs. I get very attached to them and then when they die it breaks my heart. I have budgies and one of them died a couple of months ago, of old age. It's was very sad. I won't keep any more when this present lot has gone.
Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.
  • absolutely, it is normal.

Whatever you feel is ok. You knew it was coming, and you have been anticipating it and fearing the event, no doubt. She has had a good end to her life, and it could have really been no better, purring and happy till the very end, bless her.

After she has been cremated you will start to feel a little better, I hope. When a life is drawing to a close you don't just worry about the death, you worry your friend will suffer, whether she will need your help, or a vet call out, and the unknown is wearing, worrying and tiring.

You know the ending now, and you know it was as ok as it could be, so at least the dreadful anticipation is over. You did all you needed to and all you could, and she was a lucky cat.

    Take care,
    x

    Lovely post dieselhead. Thanks.

Thanks Quasar. Life hasn't been good, but tonight it's been made worse. I'm glad she's no longer in pain. She died in a loving environment, exactly where she would have wanted.
