01/05/09 EDIT: I've renamed the thread from 'My Cat Has Just Died :( ' It was a horrible name and feel she deserves better. I couldn't bear to read the title anymore.

Posted on 29/04/09

She just made a strange noise and now she's dead :(

She was 14.5 years and had a bladder tumour. She lived 6 weeks longer than the vet gave her. We had her since 3 months old.

I don't suppose I can do anything this time of night :( I've wrapped her up in a towel and put her in a box. I guess I need to phone the vet in the morning.

I don't know what i'm going to do. If I didn't have another 4 cats and my flatmate, i'd end it all. She never hurt anyone, never started a fight with her brother and sisters or anything.

She was a demanding diva, but I love her so much. I won't say 'loved', as as far as i'm concerned she'll always be with me, so it will always be love.

I've lost one of my family and having lost so much before, I don't know i'm going to cope.

I'm sorry for wasting peoples time, I'm just so sad :(

so so sorry to hear this, it is so sad and painful when they leave us. we all have our time, and it was your baby's time, but you gave her a long and happy life. she hasn't died in your heart or memory so she will always be with you...if your other cats were close to her let them spend some time with her before she goes off on her final journey.

my thoughts are with you xxx

Miro, you arent wasting anyones time. I can feel your pain but you must remember that she has had a long and good life and yes, you will grieve badly but the pain will lessen and you will remember her young and fit and you will smile at the memories.

Im so very sorry - your other cats need you still, try to comfort them as they will miss her too.

God bless, thinking of you at this very sad time xxx
  • Oh miroslav, you are not wasting anyones time, but how sad for you.

How lovely for your cat though that she got to live with someone who loved her so very much, and that she had a long and full life, dying at home with the person she loved most.

All any animal wants in life is food, shelter, company and affection, and she had plently. You will cope, but it will hurt, you will miss her immensely, but be content in the fact that she had a great time with you!

I don't believe in the concept of hell, but if I did I would think of it as filled with people who were cruel to animals.

Thanks for your replies. Imagine how bad i'd feel if no-one even bothered to reply.

She had a great life. The best food, companionship, sleep anywhere she wanted, so much love and affection.

My other cats will get loads of affection, not that they don't get enough.

She went in a cardboard tube that a big long fan came in. She loved it in there. She made a noise and stopped breathing. Her 3 sisters and brother were in the room, as was myself and my flatmate.

All 6 of us loved her and she will never be forgotten.

Someone has kindly offered to take us and her to the vets tomorrow but they can only do at 8.45 am and vets open at 9am, so we have no advance warning for them.

Will they take her? I want a private cremation and her ashes. I'm awaiting a reply from a local animal cremation service etc.

Sorry, I have so many questions, but don't know how to ask.

    Thanks for your kindness
  • Sorry to hear your sad news.
    Take care xx
  • She has been a lucky cat - she had a good life and a good death too, suppounded by those who loved her - she must have felt so safe with you.
I do not know about the vets but I am sure others will,
    take care,

That's so sad Miroslav, as everyone's already said it's good to know she was so well loved and cared for. I've no idea what the vet's position may be but i'm sure someone will be along with the anser soon enough.

Sending lots of hugs to you. Poor you, what a shock it must have been for you and you are definitely not wasting anyone's time on here (personally I think the rest of the board think we are a bit eccentric - which we are but ina good way!)

You take care and try and get some rest at least even if you can't manage a sleep

She was purring right til the very end. Just 5 minutes earlier I reached in and stroked her and she purred.

I knew the end was nigh. I just hoped she'd stand up, eat and get better.

I'd like to think she's still here with us, in some way.
