I believe the education maintenance allowance should be re looked at. it discriminates agaisnt children. As the money goes straight to the child and not into the family household why should it be based on the household income. Those with parents who earn above the allowance may not be able to afford or may bot want to give the child £30 a week. so how does this encourage that child to stay on at school. What it is teaching children dont go out and work hard earn less get your income supported by tax payers who the get nothing back. The system is also extremely inflexible, for example if i was made redudant today my income from last year would not allow my child to get the grant and then my income upto today would still be too high so next year she wouldnt get it either but i would be living off unemployment benefit. Does not seem right to me. A child can have an income above the freshhold and still get the ema, if i was self employed i would be paying the child my income to get the ema!!! theres lots of scenirios that make this award unfair and all it does is discrimate agaisnt the child. Thius has too be re addressed, shopuld be like child benefit every chid is entitled to it if in full time education. Or should go into household income if based on that. Its not fair that some children have £30 in their pockets and others dont when they have no control over it.
I feel very passionate about this, and would like help to get this award changed.0 -

Water companies should not be allowed to simply put up their rates without telling you. Anglian water is a monopoly in our area and they charge what they want!!0

Interest on the savings of pensioners should be taxed at 10%, ie the same rate as dividend interest is taxed. This should be available to all basic rate taxpayers.
What about...
Interest on the savings of pensioners shouldn't be taxed.
They already paid tax on the money when they earned it! Those who spend all their disposable income instead of saving for their old age get subsidised by the tax payer when they reach that stage, so why not give people an incentive to save for their old age?0 -
Tax all companies (including the large multinationals) 3% on all their UK income and do away with every allowance. This will save thousands of pounds and ensure every company pays some tax.0

Give every individual a £10,000 allowance plus £5,000 per married couple and then have a flat rate of 10% for everybody (irrespective of income) and do away with evry other allowance (such as pension relief).
And freeze all benefits for 5 years (except old age pensions) to increase the incentive to work.0 -
Make them well publicised and simple to open. Publicise non photographic forms of ID that can also be used, make the banking system completely financially inclusive rather than exluding certain groups. Give each branch a dedicated adviser for basic bank accounts to help those vulnerable groups and explain the small print to themFree/impartial debt advice: Consumer Credit Counselling Service (CCCS) | National Debtline | Find your local CAB0

Lenders shouldn't be able to seek charging orders for unsecured lending. This makes a mockery of the priority and non-priority debt advice provided by agencies.
Lenders shouldn't be able to pursue CCJs if the person is working with a recognised agency eg CCCS or CAB.
Causes much stress for those who are dealing with thier debt!!!0 -
If the 2K scrappage allowance is a 'green' issue why dont they include the discount off a motorcycle?0

Dont discriminate against couples cohabiting. ensure a fair inheritance tax for all. when homes are purchased by two people contributing equally they deserve the same inheritance tax perks as married couples. couples marrying for financial gain can only be contributing to the already outragous divorce rates in britain.0
