  • someone suggested recently that the government were mind set on petrol being £1.00 per litre or more. if labour wish to claw back support they need to review the tax on fuel and bring the price down. Afer all, us tax payers are their bread and butter, without us they are UNEMPLOYED.

Car insurance is legally required and should exclude private profit. Administered centrally by the DVLA via road or fuel tax. Excess charges for claims would be on a sliding scale linked to each driver's record.

PFI schemes should be abolished and existing schemes scrapped with minimal compensation. State projects to be funded from taxation or bond issues thereby negating the obscene maintenance fees and contracts.
  • Lenders should not be able to penalise people with an early repayment charge, for repaying part or all of a loan or mortgage.

All MP's should spend 4 weeks in the year working and living on minimum wage, as Joe Public does (then they might understand what we have to put up with).

There is some merit to this idea, we need to keep them more in touch with real people. I think a 4 week stint should be compulsory before each MP takes up their post in parliment, each time they have be elected.

Why is it that unhealthy rubbish food and drink items are tax-free but sanitary items for us ladies are taxed to the max?

Anyone who menstruates would not consider these items a luxury - they are an absolute necessity!

'Real world' financial education on the National Curriculum
Proper education in schools on things such as budgeting, income tax, and financial products. This would be much more useful than the algebra which I was taught and have never once used.
  • Self employed individuals often work long hours for little profit.
Working Tax Credit helps but when added to individuals drawings, falls short of minimum wage because it doesnt take account of hours worked. The system expects people to work 30 hours not 60 like some of us.

Deduct student loans from gross pay instead of net pay like they do in Australia and America.

Perhaps a discount on completion would be in order to encourage early repayments
