It's because of my inadvertent (yeah inadvertent my a**) spending behind the bar last night. Didn't want the temptation.

Although now that I've checked everything it turns out I didn't use my credit card atall... it was all out of my bank account... so I'm not as reckless as I thought :D

... I have a wallet full of change to pay back in now :p

I don't mean to sound suspicious here but i'm confused. As cashflow pointed out ( #7951 ), you only recently opened the Barclaycard account and paid a fee to BT so why close it? Also, you mention here that you have a 'wallet full of change' yet the other day you were talking about your boyfriend... so do you share this MSE account or what? Are you a bloke or a woman?

I tend to avoid your posts cos I don't agree with a lot of what you say (one example #2 ) but also you do contradict yourself somewhat and I feel compelled to ask if you're for real or messing around here??? Sorry, i'm just asking what myself and others are thinking! :D

    * Don't take offence at this post

Oh dear NID you are too suspicious.

I did only recently open the Barclaycard account. I transferred the balance from my OH's Vanquis card which he is paying back. I seem to have remembered using the barclaycard a lot last night so called to close it to remove temptation, but when I checked online it turns out I'd actually spent monies from my own personal account so all was well and I hadn't used my credit card like I thought I had. I should've checked online before calling them to close it, but I'm glad I did because of the APR reduction to leave it open.

When I say close, I don't mean zero the balance and close, I mean cancel the card and zero the credit limit continuing to pay off. But I didn't close it in the end thanks to the superb retentions offer.

Not trying to mess around, I just got myself totally paranoid this morning that I was being irresponsible and un-trustworthy with credit again.

Oh, and I am a bloke. My OH is a bloke. Problem?

EDIT: You've already made it clear that you disagree with a lot of what I post, but at the end of the day that's your problem. If you want to be hostile to someone who is speaking from tried and tested experience that's your prerogative.

First off - chill dude - i'm not being snotty ok? Have a beer and chill out lol .....
I'm not suspicious - was just wondering that's all...... No problem with you and your OH being male, should there be?

I wasn't going to reply but the edit you added made me want to. It's not that I go out my way to try and belittle you or anything like that but I will correct posts whereby the information given is incorrect - as people have done with me when I get things wrong (we all do it, it's only human). But you'll notice I tend to stick to the area's I know best, i.e. unenforceability and the way the system works (N Hunter/Cifas/CRA's/CDA's etc). I am no expert on banks or the interest etc so avoid posting there.

I am though, quite clued up when it comes to Unenforceability; the law and relevant acts (DPA/CCA etc) the CRA's; especially the fraud elements such as N Hunter/Synactics/Cifas etc and will, therefore, tend to correct you in these posts. If you mistake this as my being hostile then that is your prerogative. :D

Fair enough then, minor misinterpretation on both sides. All good

I'll have to lock my credit cards away this christmas to avoid spending on them.

Christmas isn't what it used to be. Whatever happened to the simpler times where a meal and the company of your family was enough. Now, it's all about money, gifts and shopping.

With Aqua, don't you have to answer a series of pre-application questions? Most likely your answers turned you down and as a result you would not have been credit searches.

Thanks for responding CIF .... I thought they hadn't credit searched me,especially with the 'this won't have a neagtive impact on your credit file' but they have searched me ... my experian file now shows a credir search by Halifax services.

Is it a full search or an ID search?

    Aqua Pre-application questions:

    Have you ever:
    - been declared bankrupt?
    - received a CCJ?
    - received a default notice on a credit account?

    How long ago was this?
    Amount?

    Thanks for repling Hax,

Yes I have have been declared bankrupt, in 2005. So i would naturally assume that this is the reason why I have been declined.

But why have Aqua stated on the rejection statement that it is not due to adverse information on my credit file :confused::confused:

    Editted spelling mistakes :o
