  • yes they told us aswell £100 each person they search.

So should i take a copy of the letter i sent to cap one then? kinda nervious about going to the agency 2mo incase they dont accept us

Ok, so the easiest route is get it in your partners name alone meaning you only pay £100..... surely thats the logical thing to do? Plus no risk of refusal - but they wouldn't refuse you as you have no public data. Take the letter in case they mention anything (which they shouldn't) but personally. i'd look to save £100 and get it in the partners sole name.

It doesn't affect anything doing this, plus it makes sense?

Have you sent that letter - heard anything back yet mate?

Also with this search my girlfriend isnt working due to having our baby 5 months ago but due back to work next month. Will thia affect the search?

Also will the Agency request payslips or proof of employment

Yes but for ease just say you want it in her name only. At the end of the day they may well want you to sign in your name to meet the criteria (i.e. employed etc) but as a couple, surely asking if it can be just in the g/f's name wouldn't hurt? Say you want to do it for the protection for her and the baby due to dangers in your job or something..... its easy to blag!

My last house was funded by me in the wifes name, told the advisor it was my money but in her name cos I was borrowing a lot to do it up, I wanted it separate to my other stuff. I told them the truth, I did not want it linked to me cos if the build went under it could affect my house and business so the risk was moved to the wife with no liabilities at the time.

It became a self cert mortgage that they knew I paid for, but in the wifes name. Thats just one example.

    Hi everyone.

Got turned down by flybe, spoke to the underwriter (very helpful woman) who said that it was nothing to do with my credit file, no problen with that according to her, but I "did not meet their criteria, at the moment" and to apply again in a couple of months.

She said there were differing acceptance criteria for the cards that they provide, but was not able to tell me if I'd be likely to qualify for any of their others.

Next question..... Barclays initial, are they fairly easy to get?

I've now got 11 months of "zeros" from Vanquis.

    Thanks in advance.
Capital one £200 - bal nil. Aqua £350 - bal nil
    Vanquis limit [STRIKE]£250[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]£750[/STRIKE] £1250 - bal £450. Nat West overdraft limit - £300, unused. JD Willaims limit [STRIKE]£400 [/STRIKE] [STRIKE] £600 [/STRIKE] £900 - bal £90.
Very limit £400 - balance £329 (buy now pay 2011!)
  • Am off to see the agency 2mo so dont know what to say to them as dont want to loose this house due to capital one !!!!

My 'dream' tenants failed the agency credit check due to over commitment from one and lack of credit history the other. I got them to produce proof of income (all fine) and the agency recommended asking for 3 months' deposit rather than one, which they were able to find. I appreciate that was a lot of money, but they could do it; reason presumably the one with the credit history didn't need to borrow! So agents will try to find ways to sort out problems. Hope this is helpful (but hope you don't have to find more than a months deposit....

    Kind regards, MG

LOL I was rather bored this morning and decided to troll Kays website. I found a DVD boxset priced at £159..and I knew that Play.com sold the same boxset for £60.

So I wrote a review on Kays boxset saying.. "Anyone who is thinking of buying this.. you realise you can purchase this boxset for £60 elsewhere. Search engines are your friends. You'll save a ton of money.". I titled the review "Extremely over-priced".

Kays website stated that the review is waiting to be approved. I wonder if they will approve it..... hmm.

    Hi,

This is my first time posting to this thread, but I have read all of it. I wanted to say thank you for all the information you provide in here.

Me and OH finished paying a rather large DMP about 18 months ago and we are trying to rebuild from that. Our files have quite a few defaults and late payments on from over the years, with a few due to drop off over the next year or two. We are apparently classed as having "poor" credit ratings.

We built up a lot of debt due to both being at Uni with 2 small kids and being told that we didn't qualify for a lot of the help that we subsequently found out we should have had. So to get through we ended up taking out a number of store and credit cards, along with catalogues, and got our furniture on HP.

Looking at it now I can't believe that lenders threw all that at us, we ended up owing over £40,000, as students!!! And that doesn't include student loans:eek:

We did the right thing with the DMP, even though it took us about 8 years to pay it all off, but some of the lenders wouldn't work with the CCCS and it cost us more defaults as they said we weren't paying.:confused:So instead of everything coming off at once, as it were, we have more recent stuff that won't come off for years yet.

HSBC have been great, we have a full proper bank account and a credit card from them, but as we carry a large balance, which we will hopefully be making a very large dent in over the coming year or so, they have raised the interest to almost 20% over the last year or so. OH makes decent money, but we can't do anything about moving the balance due to our poor rating.

Thanks to the information I got from this thread he applied for a Vanquis card, so that we could work on improving our file, as yes, we do have joint finances. I know that is not recommended, but as we are both in the same situation and ran the debts up together, there doesn't seem any point in separating them now.

He got told yesterday that he was approved, and was offered a £450 cash advance, which he refused, along with the PPI, his rate is 39% or something similar, we'll know more when we get the paperwork and card in a week or so.

So, I know that this is a bit long, sorry for that, but this is the first time I have told anyone this stuff. I really just wanted to say thank you all.:T

    Well justa little update.

Applied for first credit card after IVA paid off in September last year,

got a Vanquis limit £250 and Aqua linit £250 ( or about that ) and now 12 months later have

Vanquis £2000 limit  ok I am in process of cancelling it and they increased credit limit today lol Aquacard has limit of £450 and also recently got Capitolone limit £1000 and Ulsterbank limit £1000.

Just as well i am sensible now or I could go on a nice little spending spress lol

I have been sensible , used them for small amounts each month and paid them off, now cancelling vanquis and aquacard and after my holiday in a few weeks ( paid cash and all spending money in cash ) will cancel capitalone as want to take a backup card away with us in case we need it.

Oh well nice to see companies trust me again BUT does make me realise also how easy it would be to get back where I was before

Did you have any defaults or ccj's on your credit file when you applied for the Ulsterbank card?

no ccj but about 12 defualts, all paid but not sue to drop off to 2011. I have banked with Ulster Bank for about 10 months and applied before and was turned down, hubby and I were both approved with £1k limit a few weeks ago , guess they do internal scoring.
