A quick update if anyone cares. I'm spending the next year saving money, so I'm cutting all my outgoings as much as possible. The saying 'Every little helps' is in true affect this year.

    Credit Expert membership cancelled
HSBC Plus downgraded to Advance (Yes, again)
Cancelled Direct Debit with Opticians for Contact Lenses - Buying them directly online instead
Aqua Card is pay off and empty. Just waiting to close it. I phoned today but the department was closed at the time, so I'll get it closed tomorrow morning.

A&L Debit Card, PIN and Welcome Pack came today, which I'll use as a savings account (Has 5% interest I think upto 1k for 1 year)

thanks for all the congratulations everyone :D

I will of course use it wisely *cough, cough* but I have already set up a DD to pay off the full amount every month.

My credit file is so shot due to my dam catalogues that I doubt it will even help, but its nice to have as a back up.

Have paid off the last 2 Vanquis bills in full and cut up card before I went on holiday, expecting to come home to a final bill with nothing on it so I can close account but would you believe there is a £1 minimum finance charge issued on the account for the lastest statement. Grrr!

I had that as well. Once you pay the £1, you can close the account.

I closed Aqua today. They're sending out a letter. I only have 1 credit card now, with CapitalOne £200 at 30%.
  • Evening.

I applied for the halifax reward account online on Sunday, got the "we will let you know within 7 days", still not heard anything,

    Is this a good sign?

It could go either way I'm afraid. Try giving them a call and ask if you have been accepted, they should be able to tell you.
