    My poor old Barclays debit card, pin sentry and cheque book are sitting in my draw, with my Lloyds debit card and cheque book. Neither are set to be used anytime soon. (I'm definitely sticking with HSBC). :)

    I think that will be good move. May be 1 of the reason that abbey is so sticky giving out their visa debit is because it comes with a £100 cheque guarantee. Also if you don't use cheques or don't need an overdraft for the time being IMO it's best to move to barclays as their cash card account and the connect card that comes with it is as good as a full account :T

    Lol no .. :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

    Just been been following this forum for quite a while now, that's it mate.

    Its really difficult to get a debit card with a full current account with defaults registered in the credit file :rolleyes:

    I know it, coz am in the same position as you.

    Anyway don't close the abbey account just keep on trying for it, also if keep trying different Abbey branches, as sometime some of the account managers know how to override the system, as abbey also follows the internal scoring system, like Lloyds Tsb, unlike natwest or Barclays :D

    Shall I move from Abbey to Barclays. I'm annoyed with Abbey because they still won't give me a Visa Debit card.

    Also why don't you try a Lloyds classic current account. They do tend to be more lenient than other banks when it comes to full current accounts, as their debit cards no longer comes with a cheque guarantee facility, so their is no huge risk in it for them. Also if you maintain the account well they do tend to upgrade your account and if you request and pass their internal score you can even get a CG card in matter of few months :T

    Hey robbo,

    How old are your defaults ?? I have a premier account with Lloyds Tsb, three credit cards, and quite a few catalogues 2 contracts and all . But that was before the default registered in my file :rolleyes:

    After the default which was register last year, just can't get any thing, not even a bank account any more :mad:

    Haven't tried halifax though !!
