Hi Guys and girls, hoping some of you good folk might be so kind as to give me some advice.

Im trying desperately to get myself back on the credit ladder, have a few defalts from 2003 so hopefuly they drop off later this year. Iv been applying for credit cards and cannot get accepted by anyone managed to get homeessentials,jd willimas and iv got a contract with 02. Tried to get a new bank account but cant get 1 that isn't a basic. so what i want to know is how long do you all reccomend i wiat till i try again for a credit card with aqua or vanquis, oh also iv read that all your shop direct accounts keep geting raised iv had my homeessentials for 6 months and no raise is this the norm with them?

Oh sorry 1 last thing i filled in the form to be put on the electorol roll in feb but its not showing up on my file yet should i phone the council or does it take awhile?

    Thanks!

Just got a couple of questions about some credit cards:

First, I've been accepted for a Capital One Classic card with £500 limit. I also have been initially approved (over the phone) for a Vanquis card, not sure on credit limit or APR though as theirs is variable. I have been told that this means I've been accepted, I am just waiting for a phone call from them to try and sell me some PPI and tell me the APR and limit etc.

Anyway, I applied for an Aqua card as well, who can't tell me over the phone as they say there hasn't been enough time for the computer to process my request yet. I know this is true and not necessarily a rejection as he didn't take any details.

I was wondering whether I should cancel the Aqua application if I have the Capital One and Vanquis? To be honest £500 is more than enough as I don't want to be tempted to spend money I'll struggle to repay. I think Vanquis is minimum £250 so that £750 of available credit.

Is it a good thing to have three possible credit cards open? Well, including my defaulted Marbles account that would be 4.... Is it better to have 3 or 4?

Aqua may well decline me as I applied for V and C and also I have the Marbles debt with them, but could they remove the search on my file?

Congrats. What was the starting limit?
  • If you have a Jacamo account, can you open additional accounts with SimplyBe, JD Williams etc?
