    fair enough.

I have only tried the stippey glasses myself and I was refused DTD by CS as 'technically they did not overcharged me. The offer has expired'. I did not press for dtd, as I did not want to draw attention.

However, I am not convinced there is a moral issue with people going deliberately to buy an item, when they know it will scan for more and claim dtd.

Tesco are gaining a compatitive advantage to other companies by boosting and advertizing DTD. Tesco is gaining from overcharging customers - as for most time this is not noticed. Others do not do DTD as they feel they cannot honor it and it would hurt their business, perhaps. There is nothing in the T&C to say you cannot buy something knowingly to get a DTD. So, I am not sure for myself if there is a moral issue hear. It seems somewhat fair to me. If you claim to do DTD when you overcharge customers, call me oldfashioned, but it actually pays if you do not overcharge.

    What do you think?

I have never once mentioned morality in this thread, that's a whole different discussion and very individual thing to decide.

Yes it's their policy, it's not "against the law" to claim dtd but if someone gets regularly spotted scanning items then buying them and claiming they didn't know. Tesco have every right to refuse you no matter how much you protest.

They have every right to ban you, it's their property you are on after all.

It's the tactics they "can" and "have" employed in the past to put people off doing what they do which is what we are warning of.

Tesco made a policy of giving you your money back and keeping the item if you were overcharged as they were so confident on price integrity, they couldn't keep that promise.

They came up with a crazy coupon policy where you could use any non store specific manufacturer coupons, even if you didn't buy the item, and have no limit on how many you could use in one transaction, allowing shoppers to bring down their shop to 1p or even free. They allowed this even though on the coupons it said that to "accept this coupon against any other product constitutes fraud" tesco ignored this until some large manufacturers took on tesco about it and they changed the policy.

And we all know about the latest crazy price check promotion!
They then changed it to DTD and again they are still struggling to change labels.

    Sahayu-
I know exactly what you mean about drastically putting certain prices up. For years now we've bought the tesco's own bottles of coke for something like 36p per bottle (not the stripey ones but the next ones up) and when I went to get one the other day it was 78p!!! Thats a ridiculous increase! From now on I think I'll pay a little more and buy brand names. When they do things like this it makes you feel a little less guilty about 1p items and taking advantage of 'offers'.

Just to let you know as I know not everyone reads all the threads. The peroni glitch has finished but some stores still have the signs up for the deal so their's quite a nice DTD to be had if you've missed the glitch. It works out cheaper than the original glitch with DTD.
    Beware!!!! Glitching is addictive:rotfl:

Well to be factually correct, Tescos acceptance of coupons was even less universal than R&R or DTD.
Some stores accepted any and every coupon you could throw at them.... others were very selective. E.g. mine would never accept printed coupons.
In latter years some peeps had had an email from Tesco HO which said they would accept any as long as you bought the item, and one per product for those you hadn't bought. But it was pretty much still up to individual stores and individual sa ( always go for the Saturday girl or boy;))

But then famously our beloved leader ( and I don't mean Cammie baby) went public.
Yes, Martin in one of his all time low points (for me) decided to broadcast to the nation on breakfast TV that here was a great moneysaving tip.... Tesco will accept against your shopping ANY coupons you can lay your hands on.
Within 24 hours ALL Tesco stores had stopped accepting any coupons unless you had bought the product.
Again down to the financial bottom line. The manufacturers (Hovis, Glamour etc) now had actual evidence that Tesco were claiming a refund from them without the customer having bought their product at all.
And now instead of hundreds and maybe thousands of people using coupons across the country, it was going to become millions overnight.

So ended Tescos very generous coupon policy..... :( Very sad day for me.
I never got my bill down to pence, but it did save me an absolute fortune over the years I enjoyed the policy.....sad, sad day.
When they stopped taking coupons, and then R&R ended, I faced financial ruin...... but then discovered car boot sales.... which along with buying sell-by-date food has kept me out of a debtors prison.:p

I did pay by bank card and not cash for my DTD because I dont see how you could see a product on SEL for £29 and suddenly hand over £99 without saying whooooa hold on a minute the price said £29. As you certainly would if you wernt buying it just to get DTD. Dont think I could hide my embarrassment if I was challenged, but you could say that you didnt realise until you got the receipt!

I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this but a month ago I had a bee in my tesco branded cereal, took it into store and it got sent of to head office etc, Finally heard back from them with a letter and a £10 giftcard, Do you guys think this is acceptable or should I speak to them again? thanks.
