Tesco misprices and discussion thread 11

hi everyone
can i ask some advice, this may be a totaally stupid question?
are "regular" DTD'ers using CC and credit/debit cards at all or playing it safe and cash no CC
think i am getting paranoid in me old age, don't need any help from Mouschka in that department:p0 -
Almost forgot i finally found some 12p harpic today after a month of searching every store i go into, mixed in with the £2.70 ones0
-
I've always used my CC except when it was the old DTD as I didn't want traced through that. This DTD however have been too fruitful to lose the legitimate CC points. Sometimes the points are removed when the refund is given, other times they forget. At the end of the day, they are misrepresenting the price of the item and they have a policy in place for the "unlikely" event of us being overcharged. Just like the other DTD promo, it's an invitation to make the most of a silly policy. It would be much cheaper if they just made sure their SELs and prices were up to date but it wouldn't be as much fun for us!0
-
I use my Credit card and Club card I don't mind if they know who I am on this promotion, although at Bea**ont L*ys they alsways ask for the clubcard when they do a refund, I always say the wife has it I am not trusted with all those points, which makes them laugh whilst adding up the double the difference value.0

how rude to deduct your points when its their mistake in the first place, on a normal refund i understand but is this for dtd?0

Yeah a couple of times now I've been asked for my CC. When you're getting something for free you can't really complain. At the end of the day there are 2 ways to look at it:
1. most companies would simply refund the overcharge although few companies have as many pricing issues as Tescos
2. how many companies have as generous a loyalty program as Tesco do? If I manage to keep the points then great but if I've gotten something for free or better still, been paid to take it away, who am I to complain for a pound or two of CC points?0 -
What I didn't want to do by posting is stop anyone finding glitches, bargains or freebies or stop anyone sharing info on here.
I've had a lot of fun with T's stores over the past ten years and have seen lots of people come unstuck by getting carried away with it. No need to go into more detail as I know these boards are monitored (not scaremongeringfact and well know by long term T's shoppers).
I have teenage kids so I know people like to make their own mistakes.
Sorry if you find my posting style harsh/offensive - thats not my intention at all.
Of course each store is different but I know for a fact that CS will speak to Security if they suspect customers are looking for DtD.
Just be careful moneysavers and think long term :money:
Totally agree with you mouschka on both your posts, I've tried to post some advice on here about the pitfalls of some of the antics of the new generation of people on this thread. A few old timers have also felt the need to come on here too and try to offer some words of advice, which I have found has always been greeted with a " I know what I'm doing, I'm not doing anything wrong" attitude.
We all went through this in 2006, with people being banned, court action etc.
All we can do is offer the advice but don't complain when you get followed round stores or banned from tesco stores or banned from clubcard and even private investigators being employed by tesco to trace users on here to try some scare tactics, which is easier than you think, I know first hand about that. It's all happened before to those that didn't play the long game, me being one of them when I first found this site.
So to whoever got 2 or 3 items dtd at the same time, have a think how that might look from the other side of the desk.
Yes it's their policy, yes you could buy 20 toasters you knew scanned higher and demand your dtd, but it's not the law, it's a policy that they still can refuse to pay out on,
I think a few people will soon realise the value of the advice being given by some long standing members on here and calm their actions down for the good of themselves and others.
Oh and a healthy dose of paranoia isn't a bad thing when you are taking on a multi billion pound empire like tesco, they have the technology believe me!0 -
I paid with my bank card on my only one 'occassion' I knew if I paid with cash I wouldnt have been able to hide my suprise at paying extra. So after the transaction went through I said OH! HOW MUCH? oh dear had better go to customer Service! (made like I didnt look at the amount on the till)0
-
I'd like to say well done but really it wasn't.
You need to play a long game with this or you'll find that like my OH you will be known & looked out for.
By selecting those items in one shop your transaction will stand out and CS will probably speak to security.
Hopefully you didn't use a scanner in that store - if you did I suspect you'll find it disconnected next visit.
Don't mean to be too preachy but these boards are for sharing knowledge and some of us have learned the hard way & don't want to see others come unstuck.
as above i find your post rather annoying i have seen lots of posts before where ppl have benefited time and time again with glitches, its tescos policy to refund dtd if they over charge and guess what they do over charge thats wat this thread is all about if u dont like it then jog on and read another thread isnt that wat mse is all about helping each other out.... finding the glitches and helping others to find the same..best win in 2011:eek: 4 nights in Las Vegas
2011 wins £8,752.000 -

we will, don't worry...
I don't know for others but the most I got at the time were two boxes of megablocks and only once... and I nearly wet my pants...I have 5 stores nearby and had max. of 2 dtd in each(most only 1)and never the same SA at CS desk twice... I don't overdo it but I just love finding new dtd items
:rotfl:
Oh, and we really do value your advice!0
