I did pay by bank card and not cash for my DTD because I dont see how you could see a product on SEL for £29 and suddenly hand over £99 without saying whooooa hold on a minute the price said £29. As you certainly would if you wernt buying it just to get DTD. Dont think I could hide my embarrassment if I was challenged, but you could say that you didnt realise until you got the receipt!

I always pay by cash and would just say that their was a big queue behind me and I was too embarrassed to say anything and hold up the queue, so I paid and then went back to check the label before I came to customer service. That has genuinely happened to me in the past(When I was meek and mild, before I found MSE:rotfl:)
and I was too embarrassed to say anything.
    Beware!!!! Glitching is addictive:rotfl:

Iv only done DTD twice and I would probably not use my club card next time around because they could easily spot a pattern emerging.
  • Anyone being nosy (as I am!!) about the "dark times" during the r & r days, and some of the things that went on, check out website http://www.freewebs.com/sql-provida/csresponse.html
it has a photo of kevin kelly (seductivly sucking his finger!!) and lists of what he supposedly did. Happy reading campers :)
  • went into mr t's last night to do shopping and OH saw some First Cape wine with a SEL of £4.99 (half price from 9.99). however it ran out a few days ago. Got 4 bottles (mixed in with £100 worth of shopping) and CS refunded me my DTD of £40, without question :). I understand this is a store-specific glitch (if you store has forgotten to take down the sign) but worth looking out for. Barcode 600980875019.

That cerainly makes for an intresting read ;)

I also find this particular paragraph instresting

In recent years the policy descended into utter chaos. Store managers, for their own personal reasons, decided they would do everything and anything to avoid honouring the policy, even though it was legally binding under Section 14 of the Trade Descriptions Act because it was advertised on the wall of every single Tesco store without any caveats or conditions attached to it.

    Is this still the case?
...those who mind don't matter, and those who matter don't mind.

As far as I am aware, yes. During the DTD months earlier this year, I asked the advice of a solictor friend of mine, regarding the fact they suddenly changed the vouchers to £20 limit overnight without telling anyone. The info I was given (and I wrote to tesco regarding this and got gift vouchers to top up my £20 vouchers to the £80-odd they should have been) was that if they write it and display it, they have to honour it under trade descriptions. So I assume its the same in this case (I know the law is definatley still there for it). So without any un-forseen "extenuous circumstances" then yes. HTH

I have only just started reading AND enjoying hearing about all whats been going on and admit it is addictive and that is why peeps get carried away. Although I am new to these forums, I have always found a niche somewhere. In the current economical climate and with things on an obvious ongoing downward spiral, we are all looking for the 'next big thing'. I have learned how, when I need to save a bit, to ditch expensive bath oils and replace with the 5p bottles from Mr T, and get freebies when I am clever with the coupons, ie. £1 off when it is only £1. There seems very little left to make a quick buck anymore, thanks I suppose to the media. Make money from renovating houses! not anymore, tv programmes have put paid to that with 'homes under the hammer' and makeovers in 60 minutes. and the government taking tax on it now. Even when I have seen Martin on TV saying about the gliches, I often shout, dont tell everyone, because thats when the good things come to an end, because of over saturation. It seems we all find a little something and are afraid it will get spoilt sooner rather that later. On that note I am off shopping to you know where, I fancy a glass or three over the weekend!

Oh and if any of you know what the next 'big thing' is, can you PM me, and I promise I will keep quiet!!!

I don't agree with moving SELs, stock or hiding stickered stock but if I picked up an item and the description on the SEL matched the item exactly (size, description) and the only difference was the barcode then I can't see why you shouldn't get dtd. I also don't see why that would draw more attention to you than getting dtd on an item where the barcode matched.

I haven't been a couponer - too much like hard work (apart from the h&b points coupons a couple of years ago), r&r was stopped after all the xboxes were going to free to good homes, lol. Couponing was stopped because to be honest it was ridiculous not to have a limit or conditions on the amount of coupons.

I did not say you should not get DTD, i was saying i agreed with SFC
about the approach Tesco take on this and it will raise your profile
whether the barcode matches are not.It was friendly advice to be careful and the number of posts today about how Tesco work is true
they will not take it lying down if people in their eyes are abusing the system. It is irrelevant to Tesco that it is their pathetic pricing system that is at fault, they like to shift the blame.
Also the CS person who smiles and gives you DTD the first time
generally loses their sense of humour second time around and thinks
    you should be in prison.

Well thanks to all the "oldies" (experience not age!) for all the advice
I will take it on board. Even more paranoid after reading the above article.
Would love to read the antics on the old R&R thread , is it too long ago now? I did a search and couldn't find it?
