It's possible that you just consider this to be a game, and it may well be. It's possible that there may be another more dangerous side to think about.
After all, as far as I know nobody has been convicted as a result of taking advantage of RnR or DTD. I might expect that if having somebody accused of fraud was an option for Tesco then they could identify anybody taking advantage without too much effort. The flipside for them would be whether they wanted to highlight their ineptitude at price integrity in the same way that they fluffed up their double-the-difference website and promotion recently.0 -
just out of interest, as I was podering on this last time I was in tesco, helping myself to some juicy free home phones. If you were to be accosted at cs and they say that they have been watching you on cctv and they have seen you keep scanning items, so you must know that they were going through at the more expensive price, how would you go about explaining it?SW Journey Re Re-started 25/02/14

My name is Caz and I'm an addict.
I'm addicted to 1p items;
I'm addicted to misprices;
I'm addicted to finding DTD items.
I'm also addicted to cheap toiletries in Superdrug but that's a whole other thread!
I've never had so much that has cost so little. I started being more careful with money when I had my 2nd child but it has reached new lengths. I begrudge spending full price unless I have to. I was at the Next sale at 4:30am, I have almost been made to choose between my kids and beer during the glitch and I enjoy seeing the look on an SAs face when they realise my DTD is more than a couple of quid. Best actual DTD was £60 (twice) and £80+ the other day.0 -

Simple - don't scan any items that you intend to purchase (in that store), this question is then irrelevant.0 -
Since this is the discussion thread, what are people's opinion on the legality of your position when intentionally purchasing an item with intent to claim DTD?
I ask, because to me the 2006 Fraud Act seems reasonably clear...
2. Fraud by false representation
(1)A person is in breach of this section if he—
(a)dishonestly makes a false representation, and
(b)intends, by making the representation—
(i)to make a gain for himself or another, or
(ii)to cause loss to another or to expose another to a risk of loss.
(2)A representation is false if—
(a)it is untrue or misleading, and
(b)the person making it knows that it is, or might be, untrue or misleading.
(3)“Representation” means any representation as to fact or law, including a representation as to the state of mind of—
(a)the person making the representation, or
(b)any other person.
(4)A representation may be express or implied.
