just out of interest, as I was podering on this last time I was in tesco, helping myself to some juicy free home phones. If you were to be accosted at cs and they say that they have been watching you on cctv and they have seen you keep scanning items, so you must know that they were going through at the more expensive price, how would you go about explaining it?

I've scanned all my shopping each trip for some time now (started during DTD days when, mysteriously, items would suddenly be the same price as ASDA despite the SEL stating otherwise) and even then, I've had some items scan on the self-scanners at a different price to the price they go through the checkout (and so have others on this thread). If I was asked this at CS, the statement is moot - they should ensure the SELs are correct, then I wouldn't have to scan everything prior to checkout AND check my receipt meticulously post-shop for errors.

All of the other supermarkets manage to do this, with the odd blip here and there. At Tesco, it's a regular, systemic problem that they have left to rot for years, relying on customers like those on this thread to point out the errors of their labels, staff and product prices.

It's not as if it's difficult to rectify. I'd be quite happy to offer Tesco my ideas, in exchange for a bumper salary, afternoon hours and my own office. How could they resist? :D

I think I saw the headphones you got too... was it BB(if not they are there - well, were at 6.30pm)? I looked at both and decided to try the more expensive one... with no luck... too greedy probably... :rotfl:
It was BB, that's why I can't believe I hadnt seem them before! I try to go once a week about 7 ish because that's when they reduce their flowers to about 10% of the price and I love my flowers:)

I agree, I didnt even know what a scanner was before the old DTD but now I check my shopping as a matter of course. Even if they did see you scanning it what in reality can they do? They have made the DTD rule to refund you "If things don't add up" You are exploiting their system but it's not fraud by a long chalk and they shouldnt make such bold promises. I genuinely don't think they could do anything.

Don't suppose you work for Tesco do you, I had a simular chat with a supervisior at my local who compained, I was reducing her bonus & profit share, anyway I don't get a profit share I just dtd when Tesco's don't correct SEL which are out of date,

    lol, no.

If you had a discussion on this subject where somebody intimated that you were committing fraud I sincerely hope that you mentioned that slander was also a crime.

Happened to me yesterday - assistant wandering was asked to price something came back at £15 - she had checked with CS. SEL stated £7.50. bought it anyway then went to CS - was asked about it already being checked and i just said thought the girl who checked it may have been wrong as i checked the price label again as i was about to put the item back and it was definately £7.50 on the shelf label! got DTD no problem.

They could ban you from the store - oh noes!

I'd be a bit disappointed, but I'd get my life back (until I moved/went on holiday/weekend break/worked slightly further afield and went to another store...)!

My kids would probably be grateful! Mind you, I'd be skint if I had to start paying full price elsewhere
