  • today i bought a maybelline gel eyeliner which had an sel up for £2 off, so should be £5.99. went through at £7.99 so went to cs, the assistant went to check the sel and brought them back with the item and said that the offer should have finished yesterday but as the sel was up she would let me have it for £5.99. i asked her if i then should get DTD, but she said that as the sel had yesterday's date on it as the offer end date then it didnt apply. is this right?? because from posts above it seems that customer services have said differently? problem is that i have to go into store on a regular basis for work so i didnt want to push it at all (wouldnt look good to be kicked out or annoy everyone in there!!). do you think i could email them and ask for the DTD? if so what is the best contact email address to use? thanks everyone!

Clothes Golden Rule: Never pay full price unless it is an utter bargain in the first place!
Sales, boots, charity shops, ebay- why would anyone ever pay full price for anything??!

You are 100% entitled to DTD on that. That's how most people get it, when the store hasnt taken down the sel. Everytime I have ever got it the deal has expired and the sel has been left up. If you really don't want to go back in an email will be fine or even give CS a ring and they might send you a giftcard for the difference. Even if you do go back in, remember they have loads of different staff and you are one of thousands of people whose use the store everyday. You would really have to be abusing the system for them to remember you and claiming dtd is definately not doing that. I was a bit scared at first in my local T's and would only complain if it was a store I didnt go into very often. Now I couldnt give a stuff:rotfl:because they are in the wrong and I am in the right:) and I have learnt from MSE to stand up for myself, so go for it;)

You purchased the item on the understanding it was at a £2 discount.
It was clearly promoted as such on the shelf.
It is not the customers duty to check that their promotions are current. It is the responsibility of the store.
    You were therefore overcharged.
Ring the 0800 number on the contact us page on the official site.
All the best with your complaint. Hopefully it will also result in the informing of customer service staff in your store too (for next time ;) )!

    And so the saga continues...
I tootled into the store to get my DTD refund. The CS ladies had a hushed conversation about me first, then pulled a note book out from under the desk which had an a4 side all about me from the manager I had dealt with.
I read it at the same time as the CS woman. Could not believe what I read. It outlined that I should get a refund, then said they must obtain my cc number so they can watch my activity as they suspect fraud! But tell the customer it's to deduct the points.

Well done on the Dtd - the bit I've made bold above is an absolute disgrace and you should make them squirm as much as you can over it. I would suspect you have a reasonable case for damages in some shape or form.

Did you know that under the data protection act, you can (for a £10 fee) ask them to provide everything they hold on you. If you do a search, you'll find someone else did this over R&R a while ago (TaxiPhil I think). If you tell them that you know about that page in that book, they are obliged to provide it. Just telling them that you are thinking of doing this over the issue will set them running, it costs them significantly more than the £10 to provide the information.

Let us know how you get on, and good luck.

Not sure if it's a misprice but my neighbour got a set of Technika headphones for £1! She wasn't holding out much hope of them being any good but having studied sound engineering at college she was rather impressed with them.

Yup, they were a misprice. I walked past them in my local T's earlier and the SEL says £15.

Thanks and will do. I'm going to call them in the morning and tell them im coming in to get a copy of the notes, not asking, that will give them some time to run over to staples!
Please don't judge me. you couldn't handle half of what I've been through.
