This happened to me at Failsworth on Monday... theywouldnt give me DTD on some sultanas they had overcharged me a few days ago by 24p.. like u say they had taped over the DTD bit.. I had another problem about them not taking the Asda Price Guarantee as well...

I have emailed HO about it but still no reply..

Thanks for this I have a 'tame' (aka really human and helpful) CS adviser at head office so I will email her and get some info back about Failsworth store and current DTD

I got a couple of vest tops in my local tesco the other day £4 on label but scanned at £2 and I got 25% off them because it was the bank holiday deal too. BARGAIN. I got a grey one, a pale pastel green and a light yellow one all for £2 each.

Went to manston tescos @ ramsgate 2day. cs has a sign up saying no dtd on misprices as there is a technical glitch causing promotions not coming up at right price!

There is an offer on a mixture of prepared fruit and berries. It is meant to be "any 2 for £3" but it is only working when you pick 2 of the prepared fruits. Punnets of raspberries are included in the offer but pick them as one of your 2 and you get charged £2 for each.

I had to drag the customer service lady over to the fruit to show her this because she couldn't see it on her first trip to the fruit aisle!
No point naming the store as she removed all the offer signs!

Gave me DTD once I'd shown it to her, so £2 back, making 2 packs for £2.

I shopped in the Watford Extra store today, and couldn't believe my eyes to see the infamous, home-made sign. What a cheek!! I wasn't overcharged on my shopping, but having seen the sign myself, I cam home and rang HO to question this. He put me on hold while he rang through to the store, then finally came back to me and explained that the shop had mixed-up the information on the Double The Difference Online price checker, and overcharging in store. He confirmed that the Watford store should refund double the difference if you are overcharged instore.

Apparently he spoke to the duty manager in the Watford store, that was about 2pm today. So it should have gone NOW!! If anyone spots it, please let us know, and more importantly, don't be fobbed off by their staff. It seems absurd to me that us customers know more about Tesco policy than the staff themselves do!

    the signs still there
was overchared on Aero biscuits(pack of 7) sign said £1.00 but
    charged £1.62.
refused to give DTD, so phoned head office, they said they have got it wrong and they are posting a voucher card.
  • Hello,

Just wanted to check something with the DTD experts. I bought something that was reduced yesterday (damaged box) from £6.10 to £3.05 (yellow label on box). When I checked my receipt I had been charged £6.10. I went to CS who refunded my £3.05. I did point out that it should be DTD but they said not on reduced items. I have had this problem before. Is this the case or are they lying?

    Thanks

I have had the problem where a reduced item has scanned at full price and have got dtd back. I stand there and won't go until they give it to me if they refuse, I would even wait for a manger. To me it is a matter of principle, especially on reduced things. How many people go out of the shop not noticing or claiming any money back. They have made a fortune on all their errors that people haven't noticed.
Be thankful for what you have because it could all be taken away tomorrow.;)

A good tactic is to stand your ground and in a slightly raised yet polite voice read out the DTD promise from the blue board word for word and ask them where in the sentence does it refer to reduced goods...

...entertains passing shoppers, shows up the member of staff who is acting up and gets you what you want.

The 'official' response: the staff handbook directs the customer service staff to give DTD if the wrong price is charged - no exceptions.

I had this arguement with customer services and they said it had scanned at full price because whoever was reducing hadnt covered the bar code properly with the reduced sticker. They told me no dtd for reduced items and I just stood my ground, refused to go away, politely argued my point and did evntually get the DTD. These boards have so have me stand up for myself, this time last year I would never have argued let alone use a coupon or voucher!:T
