Tesco misprices and discussion thread 11

Does anyone else find tesco pricing errors a bit annoying? A couple of weeks ago I bought an innocent smoothie which was reduced (only bought it coz it was on offer, as I can't really afford to buy things like that full price and thought it would be a nice treat) and when I checked my reciept as I left, realised I'd been charged full price. Got double the difference and they took the ticket off the edge of the shelf as it was an expired offer (expired by a couple of weeks though!). I was quite pleased that I'd got a little bit extra off than I was expecting, and not annoyed because mistakes happen.
Then last week I went in and bought hobnobs on buy one get one free. I love the milk chocolate ones but these weren't on buy one get one free so I got the dark chocolate ones which were. Then realised after I'd got home that I'd been charged for both. So had to go all the way back and again they gave me double the difference and took the ticket off the shelf, so I basically got 2 packs for free... but as I hadn't realised till I got home, this time I wasn't quite as happy. The novelty is wearing off already and if it happens again I might stop shopping at tesco (although I probably won't coz I don't really like asda :P).0 -

Liz - you've got to get into the 'DTD' frame of mind. If you buy something and you unexpectedly get overcharged, then you are going to get back DTD. So if it is something that has a long shelf life - forget about the one you have just bought and put it in the car, go back in and get 8 or 10 of them. Get overcharged again and get your DTD on all of them If they are going to remove the SEL anyway, you might as well make it worth your while cos no one else is going to benefit.Still virtually alcohol free since 4/1/15. (10 Xmas/ New Year/Birthday drinks)
It takes 3500 calories to lose a pound in weight. Target 13 lbs weight loss. 18.5lbs lost 2nd May - 28 September.0 -
good thinking will now be in the 'DTD zone' when I next get fleeced in tescos.0

Didn't Tesco ditch the DTD policy a couple of years back after it started to get undue attention from here and from HUKD?
They've brought it back again, but for how long? My guess is that it'll go again if they sense that it's being exploited again.0 -

No they ditched RnR and and replaced it with DTD.0 -
325g Honey Cheerios -
End of aisle display with rice crispies, Shreddies etc BOGOF - the picture shows 325g Honey Cherrios in the offer, but they were not there in the display. Went to the shelf and no mention of BOGOF - all the others in the deal were priced at £1.99 and the Honey Cheerios were at £2.09. Went through the till at £4.18 for the pair. Highlighted the error and got DTD - i.e. Free Cheerios!
This was at B-Pool store, but is national offer as far as I am aware0 -
Tesco brand jar of roasted peppers £1.19 sel goes through at £2.29. So in essence a free jar and such a good way to jazz up sauces, plus customer services guy gave me back £2.29. Hth0

I picked up two boxes of Quorn bacon-style rashers in the freezer section because they had a price label saying they were on offer for £1.09 (half price). However, I was charged £2.29 each - so £4.58 in total.
Sales assistant said that the bar code didn't match and I had smoked bacon-style slices, whereas the SEL was for bacon-style rashers. There was a big pile of the 'slices' right over the SEL and no other bacon-style things, so she honoured the DDT and I was refunded £4.80, so I got the two boxes of vege bacon free + a profit of 24p.
Might be worth a look in your own branch (if you like vege bacon that is) in case they have made the same mistake.0 -
Got some BOGOF jammie dodgers were priced at 24p BOGOF didnt kick in so got free biscuits By the way these are the yellowy packets and not the red jam packets, as the red packs were selling at 99p and you could get BOGOF on them. This was in the beckton tesco store. HTH0
