Easter eggs are 3 for £2.50 at the moment, but naughty Tesco missed the £1 SEL from one of the Smarties eggs displays. Seen as though I have three different people only wanting two eggs each they had to go through in seperate transactions of 2. So 2 for £5, £6 DTD back =£18. My smugness spiralled a bit when a man next time got DTD of £30 for some wine that had the wrong ticket on it though!!:D
  • Innocent smoothie carafes should have been 2 for £3.00 but I was charged £1.99 each so a DTD of almost £2.

Pictureka large game cards SEL £1.75, charged £4.97.

Large box of Hasbro large game cards including Monopoly, Boggle, Pictureka, Cranium. Large SEL stating "Large Game Cards Asst 1 £1.75" in front of the big box of mixed cards.

CS offered to refund me the difference and refused to do DtD as "the SEL didn't refer to my cards and the right SEL was there for them". The right (small) SEL was hidden under the large SEL on top of it and the barcode on the large label was only for the Boggle cards. As the correct SEL was on the shelf (hidden from view, but present) the CS insisted DTD didn't apply as the information was there.

Rang HO at CS...she couldn't confirm or deny DtD as she wasnt there looking at the signage :wall:, so wanted the manager to take a look...whilst on hold waiting for her to contact the manager, she cut me off.

CS went off to find the manager, who agreed to the DtD.

Still can't believe that CS expected the customers to

    a) know that the SEL referred to only 1 of the 4 card games in the box with such a vague title on the label.

    b) lift up the large vague SEL to check there were no contradictory precise price labels to the large vague SEL hidden away.

20 minutes of my life wasted there, but DtD finally given. It ended up being all about the principle, even if I was 5 minutes late getting home.

Hello b, and well done for holding your ground. noting time of your post, i can feel your absolutely justified head of steam still percolating nicely throughout.

I can imagine the line that might have been taken if you'd been spotted 'fiddling about' with their signage...

I've had several overcharges recently, notably Ariel stain remover where someone had omitted to remove the £4 special offer SEL, and it went through at over £9+ (I had the Ariel free and plus £2 off my shopping). I've gone to customer services about it and had several arguments about DTD, and whether I should get it or not. After all it's not my fault Tesco does this, is it?, and why should I only get a refund of the amount overpaid instead of DTD as its their policy. Unfortunately our store has a new CS desk and no big blue sign up anywhere in the store, so I can't just point to it. Do you think they should by rights have the sign at the CS desk, and should I contact head office to enquire?

If you contact customer services and tell them they don't give you DTD they should send you out a gift card.
