I Just spoke to our local store manager and he said if he issues the refund it comes out of his budget but if head office issues the refund it doesnt and they all get very tight budgets so they prefer to not give out the cashback if they can get away with it

And i hope you pointed out all the people that have over paid for a product before it was bought to their attention, are also on a tight budget, and cant really afford to add more money to Tescos profits, ie 10 people overpay £1 for an item, you buy the same item and notice the overcharge, you get dtd back of £2, that still leaves them £9 up

No this manager is spot on. Its not his fault Tesco are profiteering and give him a budget that means he has to make up for tesco !!!!-ups or have no staff i know which makes more sense.. have the staff working and refer the customers to the customer service center

Do the same mistakes happen in all stores? For example if someone in a Kent store finds a mistake will someone in Manchester find the same mistake? If I travel to tesco based on a misprice I have seen on this thread what are the chances I will find the same misprice in my local store?

It is his fault that the staff hes hired arent being trained to make sure that the SELs are changed correctly, if he did this there would be no over charges thus no DTD to be paid
  • Sorry I'm a bit late posting this. I bought two 500g boxes of Spekial K Red Berries in Tesco on New Years Eve. Yellow SEL said:
    2 for £4.00 375g-500g

The label was only on the shelf holding the 375g boxes, but the SEL clearly indicated that it covered both 375g and 500g. Paid for two 500g boxes on the self serve and was charged full price (2 x £3.34 = £6.68). I explained at customer services, and went with them to the shelf to point out that the SEL included 500g also. Was offered a refund of the amount I was overcharged (£2.68). I had to point out that I should get DTD, and was finally refunded £5.36, so net cost to me was £1.32, ie 66p per box.

The manager is talking carp. He works for a company who have a national policy where customers get DTD if they are overcharged. Customers have been overcharged at no fault of their own and should be given DTD politely and efficiently instore where the overcharged took place.

Now if he doesn't agree with his employer's policies perhaps he should look for a change of career.
