I have about a £100 on shopping bill and approx the same left. I am thinking of a Tesco spree as they have just sent a nice email with £6 OFF a shop. So with a code for free shopping and some i points ..i think i will.
Hope the NR money comes in soon, would be great to have that sitting in the bank.Blackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?

Well the insurance company (why do they use Elton John for their hold music - do they not realise that people are already quite fed up enough having to call them in the first place?!) are chasing through the other side again - I suspect delaying tactics are being used but the chap I spoke to said that all the docs make it clear enough that there is no fault on my side, it'll just take time.
CC bill has come in and by the time we've balanced the books internally with OH's expenses it comes in pretty much bang on what I reckoned so that's good. Also realised that we never sorted out the amount we each owed for the last bill either - I think MrEH might have thought he was getting away with that one....!
Bob - go for your Tesco spree! We got our Clubcard vouchers through this week so if you haven't already got yours they are probably on their way.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Hope your money comes back to you quickly. Always better gaining interest in your account rather than theirs.
Thanks for your kind words. I think when I get this loan out of the way, I might start putting the "extra" money away and then showing OH some figures on the mortgage to see if he changes his mind.
One thing at a time though.0 -
Wow now I've seen your thread it's very inspiring. Our hope is to go further north (we're near Edinburgh), must be near water and with a drawbridge and portcullis.
I'm sure you're going to get your island home.
And Monday I'm phoning Pet Plan to try and get the dreaded Husky's reduced.:A Let us be grateful to people who make us happy: they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom. Marcel Proust :A0 -
EH, re cat wormers, if yours is really awkward you can get a wormer that you just administer as droplets to the skin on the back of the neck like the flea treatment. It is called Profender, and you have to get it from your vet. I have an ancient cat who is big and strong more like a tiger cross and he WON'T be wrapped (local vets all have scars to prove it )
Anyway, this wormer has changed my life for the better, especially as we had 2 cats til recently (lost one the other day, also ancient, also awkward). The vet says it is just as effective as tablets, with the added bonus they can't sick it up when you are not looking
Note that you cannot administer it at the same time as the flea treatment, about a week apart my vet said.0 -
Thanks for that Dawn - at the moment it's workable to get the tablets down her neck, but as time goes on I suspect she may become substantially trickier to manage on that front, so I'll make a note of that. Sorry to hear about your other cat too - so upsetting isn't it.
Kissjen - drawbridge and portcullis?! Sounds fab!! Good luck with PetPlan too.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

I did and spent £60:eek: with lots of discounts and cupboards full for a fortnight at least.:rotfl:Blackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?

:j:j Northern Rock money has come in!! BUT....amount appears to be wrong - I need to get the correspondance out and double check but I THINK they've paid only the base amount not the interest that they are duty bound to pay as well. I had a feeling they would do something similar.....it's such a nasty sneaky trick though, and if they don't think I'm going to chase it then they have altogether another think coming.
Had bit of a spending day yesterday as we went to a country show....£10 admission each, plus food etc. Food was kept to a budget though as we bought bread and cheese, then had tea & cake in the afternoon in a very reasonably priced tea-tent! (£2 for two teas and two cakes - bargaintastic!) however, on the flip side the farm we buy our sausages from was there doing a special offer - 2 packs for £5, so those are now residing in the fridge, and another farm was there was 850g packs of "bacon bits" for £1.50 per pack.....so bought two of those. They're blooming great bit chunks of bacon too...bargaintastic again! In spite of the weather it was a nice day out - lots to see and worth the admission.
Meal plan is done for the week - salmon, jacket spuds and salad tonight, toad in the hole, mash & peas tomorrow, spag bol on wednesday and MrEH fends for himself on a Thursday because I'm at speedway.....he'll probably have an omlette. We're off to Devon for the long weekend on Friday night - staying with Ben's parents, so that'll be excellent.I seem to have too many eggs again so might boil a couple for lunches......
Final bit of good and bad.....bad - Washing machine is sounding more unhealthy by the day - and has now started making ominous clanking noises to add to the horrific noise coming from the failing bearings.....I think we now have to accept that we need to replace, and soon-ish. Good......I've filled my ISA!!!!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡
