Progress today - some deliberate, some accidental!

    1) Was going to go into town to Matalan to look at buying a couple more tops for work, and another pair of jeans. Until I realised that MrEH is the keeper of the Matalan card, and he's away this weekend. Oops. Was going to go into town anyway but decided against on the basis that if I go, I'll spend, whereas if I stay here, catch up with jobs that need doing, and listen to Queen CD's, I'll spend......nothing! :rotfl:

    2) Registered Shell Drivers Club loyalty card online at last. Only had it about 6 months. :o Shell is the cheapest fuel round here most of the time, so I spend a fair bit with them, therefore it makes sense to have it.

    3) Ordered the cat's flea treatment and wormer online. Remembered to check the cashback maximiser, and not only discovered at TopCashback pay 10% - rather than Quidco's 8%, but found a 10% off code to use as well. :j

    4) Ordered my contact lenses, going through Quidco for cashback. In addition cashback CC's were used for both the pet stuff and the lenses. :D

Might have a go at getting my flylady tasks a bit more up to date in a moment......:o

*edit to add* Have just realised that the downside of having ordered the cat wormer is that one of us now has to actualy administer the wretched thing to the beast. This is usually painful, and sometimes downright dangerous. She's a cat that knows her own mind, and that mind does NOT take kindly to taking tablets. Hmmm....I wonder if the "I ordered it, so you have to give it to her" approach will work on MrEH?!

Oh if only it were that simple. She stands and carefully sucks all the wrapping off from the tablet, then spits - and I mean quite deliberately spits - the tablet back at you! :rotfl: Crushing and adding to food doesn't work either - she simply refuses to eat the food/  She's a little minx - the only reliable-ish method is to tip her head back, open her mouth and drop the tablet so far to the back of her throat that it CAN'T come back! Unfortunately - that's where the intense personal danger comes in.....!

With my cats, i used to wrap in a towel and tuck legs in as towel wrapped around. Tablet went straight in at back of throat, no scratches just a few dirty looks..but i am used to handling animals, so was quick and easy. If you hold the head up they can't yack it up either. And bites are difficult in that position as put cat under arm IFYSWIM on back facing you, tip back, ( a bit like a bagpipe hold.) One hand for opening mouth and put in tablet at back of tongue, close mouth and keep it gently closed so they have to swallow.. and bob's your aunty.:rotfl:Worked for mine and boy he was an akward cat, he just knew when to give in ..inspite of nasty wailing too.:o

    Bargainous dress before..i love a bargain.:T

Yep - our old vet kindly taught me to "wrap a cat"......it's a handy technique that gets used regularly for anything where the flailing claws could prove to be a health risk......I even posted step by step instructions on the OS daily thread some time back. :D

Got some way through the flylady list - but oddly enough seem to have stalled when I got to anything that suggested window cleaning......

Oh, and the Quidco & TCB transactions have all tracked. :T

in Colonsay when I use to live there

we didnt have a vet so we use to get one come over about 1 or 2 times a year and they would do eveyrthing needed

The main thing they use to do was castrate cats - they use to shove them down a wellie boot to do it

Now I thought to myself oh OK EH can shove the cat down a wellie boot and administer the tablet

then remembered - wrong end would be showing!

Well I could put the tablet in that end, but I REALLY don't think the cat would enjoy that at all! On the other hand, it might make her realise that taking it by mouth wasn't so bad after all! :rotfl:

Hi EH. I found you in your own diary. Thanks for your kind words on my diary and I did infact go back and skim over your previous diary and it's very inspiring to see how quickly you got your loan down. I would also love to eventually over pay the mortgage but my OH isn;t keen as he says he would like to be able to enjoy life which is fair enough. I may point out to him that once this loan is paid off then we could effectvely do the same with the mortgage and still e njoy ourselves a bit.

Even a £50 a month OP on the mortgage can make a heck of a difference over time - maybe you could make a deal with him that any money you wouldn't otherwise have had (gains through tax changes, pay rises(What - this year? yeah, right!) savings on insurances etc) goes towards OP'ing the mortgage? That was the way we started it off - although I have literally JUST talked MrEH into adding on another £50 from July - hurrah for me!

Thank you for your lovely comments about my thread too! Keep focused and you will get your loan gone quickly!

    OK - latest.....

PPI money from NR not arrived yet *sigh* - can't say I am surprised and I did say to them that bearing in mind their previous quite astonishing inability to know their a55es from their elbows I would not be holding my breath over their "ten day" promise. Would be nice to have it though - I'm itching to get it into my savings account.

Pay day yesterday so have taken the odd surplus from both my own and our joint account and dropped those into the savings, if the CC bill comes in higher than expected then I may have to drip feed a little back again but we will see.

Expenses claim for £67 went in earlier in the week, there will be another from site visits I did yesterday for £35.60 which I'll put in this week. Both those amounts will head straight to savings when they turn up. in the interests of recovering money due to me I must ring the car insurance people about getting my excess back from the accident last year as well. Why on earth it should cost me a) my excess and b) my claims history when the lorry driver went through a red light and hit me goodness knows......I had right of way on the roundabout too!

Shopping last night - regular weekly Tesco run - came in at £12 odd but I had some vouchers that took it down to just under £10.....that's basically just fruit and veg - thanks to a BOGOF offer I know have 4kg of spuds......will have to think "potato" this week! Anyway - I have £36 left from the months shopping budget which is fine - will actually have a surplus this month. :j

Have a great weekend all - hope the weather holds/rain stops/wind drops (delete as appropriate!)
