I like them and i like my camper van too..the wheels work as well!:D:rotfl:
Silver coins- camper van
Copper in orange piggie
Pound coins in yellow piggie
That's the theory of it anyway.:D Doesn't always work like that as sometimes they get raided, but it is splash money at the moment as treats are hard to come by. Noone is touching until summer at the moment...can't wait to see what is in there by then.:TBlackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?
Still lurking around with a hope of some salvation:cool:0 -
what i find strange about my brain (and there's many strange things about it) is that all the time i was racking up debts i still had little pots of money in different savings accounts so i could pay for bills and christmas etc. I had all the building blocks there yet i was just ostritching about living within my means.0
-
and i'm really annoyed with myself that despite paying off £21k of debt the only debts i've cleared entirely are my overdraft and a loan to my niece which is less than £2k. though shortly i can add the loans from my two nephews taking me up to £2.5k it just narks me that i haven't actually cleared anything large. I supose the only good thing is that i now live within my means (mostly) and have paid for a wedding with cash.0

Well exactly LT - focus on the achievements you've made, and how well you are set up for the future now.
Bit of a setback today - as I got sideswiped by a lorry (another flipping foreign driver not bothering to use his mirrors, needless to say) on the motorway coming home from work. Relatively little damage on the face of it, but the car is going to need another trip to the bodyshop and - I suspect - it's second new rear quarter panel in its short life. Quarter panel is dented in and scuffed, rear wheel arch is now flat to the rest of the bodywork, bumper scuffed, and also the rear n/s alloy wheel is scuffed. Not happy, not least because that will now be farewell to another £160 excess, PLUS the hassle of claiming, PLUS having to spend another week or so driving around in a wretched courtesy car.:mad: I'm cross. I'm crosser still because yet again the idiot a) spoke no English b) didn't know what he was supposed to produce in the event of an accident and c) the Police said they wouldn't attend, then said they would, then changed their minds again and didn't bother. Thankfully I had two lovely Highways Agency chaps arrive to help - to them I am eternally grateful as they (finally!) managed to get the right details out of the idiot lorry driver so we could get on our way.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Good grief! Sorry this happened, EH, really horrible - I know there are blackspots for that exact "accident" now, on the M25 - but of course it can happen anywhere in the country. Hugs to you.
xx2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Hope you're ok and sorry to hear about your accident. They are a nightmare the foreign drivers as in a foreign lorry their blindspot is completely different.0
-
Thanks for all my hugs guys - I really needed them too! Interesting point about the blind spot Taxi - by law now all trucks have to have special mirrors (Called close proximity mirrors) fitted on their "blind" side now - and the highways agency chappy confirmed for me yesterday that there was a clear view from the lorry's drivers seat to that mirror, and from there to the side of the truck. Basically, if one of them pulls across on you now, it's more to do with them not having used their mirrors at all than you being in a blind spot!
In the cold light of day I feel bit better about things - I didn't sleep too well last night but MrEH managed to drum into me this morning that it really wasn't my fault and there was nothing I could have done, and that in fact my evasive action stopped it from being worse. Rang the insurance company this morning and the car is booked in for the 29th - we're off to Cardiff next weekend so I wanted to make sure we had her for that, and as she is still both driveable and secure, I was happy with that. I'll have a claim form to fill in but that will wait for the weekend. My protected no claims is now cancelled, but that will be reinstated as and when the claims are sorted out apparently - and another job for the weekend is to send a sternly worded letter to the insurance people asking them to kindly get their posteriors into gear re getting the first one sorted so I can have my excess back!
I've been doing some serious money juggling tonight as the Poland flights, the washing machine and the car service have all arrived at once on the credit card bill - a nice total of £800 to find in the space of a month! As a result the savings total hasn't been increased as much as I liked this month, but I'm still showing an increase so that could be worse. I'll have to keep a close eye on things as the month draws on but at this stage there is JUST enough in each account to cover things.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

What lousy luck. Great that you're ok but something you could do well without.
Hopefully everything will be fixed for your trip and the insurance money refunded.:A Let us be grateful to people who make us happy: they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom. Marcel Proust :A0
