Hi, Im about to start creating my first blog and am planning to make it in 2 or 3 languages and am wondering if I should make them all on the same website address or make a different address for each language? The way I'm looking at it is 3 websites make more money from advertising than 1 very big website haha. Am I right or just being stupid?
So long as you are writing it yourself, as a native speaker, then I think it will be fine to do either/or as it will be unique content. You should also remember to add language attributes to your html code, to help your webpages/sites be served to the appropriate visitors. It is certainly helpful to have a country specific domain but it never seems to be strictly enforced so I think it's really down to personal preference. (How many .com domains are really commercial enterprises? And how many American sites actually use .us?)
I don't know what it'll do in a monetary context. But I do know that duplicated content is a no-no and that languages do not translate literally e.g. "je le sais" (I know it).0 -

Sorry if this is a stupid question, I am completely new at this!0 -
This thread always peaks my interest whenever I browse! I already have a business website to promote my services but it isn't to make money online as such.
I've decided to start a blog on things that interest me for now, instead of trying to monetize it just to get into the hang of regularly posting, as I am one of those people that if I don't see results quickly will drift off onto another project. If I successfully stick at it then I will definitely be rereading this huge thread for tips.

Hello everyone,
Sorry I've missed loads of post but would take me a whole few days to read every single post.
I started blogging at the beginning of August (the 2nd to be precise) and I am just under 1100 hits away from 25,000. I have not got any advertising on my blog at the moment. It scares me to even think about it. Is my blog something I could make a little income from or not? Thanks0 -
My blog is a weight loss one. It's quite a competitive niche, but i'm having a go. :-)
Jada90 - you're getting approx 200 hits per day. With a CTR of 2%, you'd expect 4 clicks per day, then it depends on the niche as to what you get paid. I'd think £1 to £2/day would be realistic.0 -

As far as I can work out, you can earn some (trivial) Adsense money just from pageviews though the clickthroughs are more significant. So, I would say that you can definitely earn something.0 -

If you remove low performing ad units you can raise your overall CTR and increase earnings. I've been getting rid of the ads that do not get clicked as much, which tend to be below the fold of the page.
It's so easy to get banned from Adsense these days that you must be careful not to get too aggressive with ad positioning.0 -

No idea, tbh. I use the Blogger settings, which are (I think) 3 ads max per page - to the side and under posts. Presumably, using Google's own blog settings cannot hurt. Then again, I don't do this seriously so I will add the disclaimer that no one should rely on the opinion of a hobbyist!0 -
I think it's so hard your for little money...0
