Oh really? I just kind of figured I'd fallen out of fashion with the search engines :o

I was thinking about starting a new one - would it be better to do that or go back and try and revitalise the old one?

100% go back to the old one. it'll have more credibility due to its age.
  • Do you think by the number of posts I have made above I can add Adsense now? Will it be added to both blogs through my account or will I have to apply for each blog separately?

I don't see what your posts or page views have to do with it. If you have any Google account, then it's the same login details for every Google account e.g. gmail, g+, adsense, webmaster tools, drive, calendar, reader, etc. I lose track of how many products Google has!

You have to enable/disable ads for each blog that you have. I think the default in blogger is to have them switched off.

There is also some sort of government money laundering check, I think. Unless it was adwords but I think it's adsense. Google send a postcard to your address and you enter the code online. Everything on Google is integrated - you do something once and that's it for everywhere else. (Unless it's sensitive data - like on Amazon, where you can login on every site with your UK details but you still have to re-enter your payment details.)
  • This seems a long shot but... one of my hobbies is knitting - I've recently started blogging about it (so it's topical to this thread). Does anyone happen to know a good place to share knitting patterns other than Ravelry, where I'm already a member? (I also have my RSS feed on Knittingblogs.org.) I was wondering if there was anywhere else worth checking out. Ravelry and Google are always my first choice for finding new patterns but perhaps someone else would search elsewhere/instead.

You could try adding 'Skimlinks' for a potential axtra few pennies a month. It's free, so nothing to lose in trying it out.
I will admit that one of my most visited 'blogs' is actually a Hubpage. Pity I cannot find-out how to integrate Skimlinks into it. Still, earned $2.09 this month (so far) which is the best month so far.
    Never Knowingly Understood.

    Member #1 of £1,000 challenge - £13.74/ £1000 (that's 1.374%)

    3-6 month EF £0/£3600 (that's 0 days worth)

  • I currently run 10 websites on my domain, with Adsense code on 9 of them. I've grown my income from £10.63 in August to £48.65 last month. I'm continuing to add content, and my first target is to earn £60 per month, ensuring I get paid every month. Only 2 of the 10 sites get decent traffic, so plenty of scope yet to improve things. I have LateRooms as an affiliate site too, and this adds to the pot.

Adding too many ads tells your visitors you are more interested in slapping ads everywhere rather than providing good content. I actually remove low performing ads because I have more to gain in reputation and authority then the tiny fees paid by adding every and any type of advert.

I have code on all of my sites, but you need to be a bit subtle about it. Blend the ads where possible and don't have too many (like you say), and if the site is a membership based one, like a forum, disable all ads when your members log in. This works well.
  • Hi quinechinoise

Sorry I can't answer your question but I enjoyed looking at your blog. I wanted to give you some feedback. As a reader I found it quite hard to read with the background colours, it would be worth you taking a look at it. I hope this helps your blog, it is not intended as criticism. Good luck
Sew it, knit it, glue it, reuse it , don't buy it

Thank you so much for taking the trouble. :) I will look into changing the background/colours. My Christmas gift knitting seems to be hogging too much of my spare time!

Hi, Im about to start creating my first blog and am planning to make it in 2 or 3 languages and am wondering if I should make them all on the same website address or make a different address for each language? The way I'm looking at it is 3 websites make more money from advertising than 1 very big website haha. Am I right or just being stupid?
