  • Hi Guys

Ive been reading through this thread and what a thread it is, I set up a small blog with a couple of photo`s and went through the Adsense programme to have adverts on the blog to make a second income, if at all.

I have now been denied an Adsense account.

How do I get round this to get it approved?

    Regards

That's your problem. Adsense is for sites with significant text content. Photo's don't count towards content, no matter how many you have.

There is some text in there. roughly I would say, 100 words or so.

I haven't seen your blog, but it doesn't sound like there's enough content. You need a good amount of quality original content.

Yes, unique content. Do not try scraping, copying, paraphrasing or reiterating. You need to please both visitors and search engine. Blogging is not like long form books or articles. People do not read online content the same as print journalism.

They are so used to reading rubbish, tolerance is low. I try all the time to improve. My one main issue is saying too much - being too wordy and not concise.
  • I find this thread inspirational. A few months ago, I resigned from my secure, well paid, permanent job that was making me deeply unhappy to forge my own path.

I've secured a 0.4 contract at a university that will pay the mortgage for the next three years - I've given myself that long to set my self up as totally freelance. So far, I've sorted a website for a business (in my profile) and I'm now looking to complement this by establishing (a) blog(s) and using the web to generate income.

I still long way to go and I'm in the research stage for the blogging but you all give me hope that I CAN do this. Thank you :)

A HUGE thank you to all that post competitions
  • Hi guys, I have been blogging for about 6 years on one blog which does okay. I have just started a new one.

My new one, (which is linked on my profile) is actually set up more for memories for me.

You see I am now on a quest to be mortgage free, and I want to document everything that I do to get there. So I started a blog as a diary for me, I am hoping overtime it will develop readers, as I do love to write.

I have not done any SEO/Marketing on the site yet, and it does not look nice yet. It's is still a simple wordpress installation with a free theme. Overtime I will add a nice funky theme, and look into some products to put on the site.

I think the main thing to point out here, is blog on something that you enjoy.

Do not blog to make money at first, this will come later. Much later.

Try not to copy others, stand out from the crowd, be unique and different. And trust the traffic and the ££ will follow.

The niche I originally blog'd on, many people tried to copy...all but 2-3 of em stopped within 6 months as they intended purely to make money from their blogs.

I would welcome any thoughts on my new very basic blog.which has many components like social networking and a news letter still to be added.

I've blogged for a university for about 2 & a half years now and get paid a nice little second income from it. I've done a bit of paid blogging for other sites too but none of them have found me - I've sent scores of emails and sample articles to places asking to be considered.

I started my own blog but I found I never really had the time to keep it up and the web is saturated with people trying to monetise their own blogs which I personally find quite offputting.

But there's definitely money to be made from blogging. The blog I write for university pays my fees for the degree I'm doing with them plus part of the fees for an MA I'm doing too.
  • Can we see a link to your blog?
When I was young I respected cool people, then I grew up I respected clever people, now I'm wiser I respect kind people.
  • Hi everyone, I started writing three blogs back in April. One of which I am definitely going to drop as I haven't been able to write many posts, got many views, or even bothered with it since August.

My other two blogs have nearly 5000 views each according to Blogger, which may as someone already pointed out not be 'actual' views. One of the blogs has 35 longish posts, and the other has almost 100 shorter posts of maybe 300 words.

I want to add Adsense to my blogs. I first tried to add it straight away but didn't get approved due to lack of content. I then tried again after writing further posts but again didn't have enough content.

Do you think by the number of posts I have made above I can add Adsense now? Will it be added to both blogs through my account or will I have to apply for each blog separately?

    Many thanks
