Thanks Mrs M :T Sounds like the trip back to A!di for more milk will include a shop for a couple more B'nut Squash
Will stick to boiling them with my other veg I think - it's a one-pan soup, so roasting the squash would increase my electricty bill without justification (rarely have the oven on to put them in with something else). Not really sure about leaving the skin on either, as it seems horribly toughCheryl0 -
Hi there,
Just on to declare for May £489.33 - overbudget by £69.33 BUT in my defence, it's the first month that all three children have had packed lunches instead of a school meal, so now I know roughly what that's costing me per week I should be okay.
MrsM - please put me down for £420 again for June. This time I will try my very bestest to stick to it!!
Congrats to Boodle on your new arrival :j
Good luck to all for the remainder of the May GC.

Evening all
Congrats to boodle on your new arrival.
I'm not quite declaring yet as bunny needs some food, and i may need some milk. Think i'm sitting at £91 ish at mo from a budget of £120.
Am sticking with a budget of £120 for June, as i have used almost everything in my freezer, so definite 'big shop' due. also h2b due back at end of june (has been away for 4 months with work) so thinking some 'treats' will be in order.
Thanks for the tips everyone, and thanks to MRSMC for organising the thread. :T

Congrats Boodle!
Had a very successful batch cooking day & now have 84 individual dinner portions cooked up & haven’t even used up my stock pile of whoopsied meat & fish. Also have made up pates, soups & quiches.
Only thing is I haven’t actually been able to squeeze all of the yummy food into the freezer & some is in the fridge for now. :oWill have to have a bit of a rearrange, though a little bit will get used up over the next few days.
Had yummy HM onion soup for lunch & Delia’s sausage boulangere from frugal food for dinner. Basically layers of potatoes & onions with browned sausages on top; a mix of milk, water & herbs poured on top & cooked slowly for about an hour in the oven. I used Lincolnshire sausages, which are herby anyway, and absolutely delish!0 -
An eye watering overspend in May £339.92/£200, freezer full and dog food, toilet rolls and kitchen rolls to last a siege, so will try and gradually claw back the overspend, with this in mind, can you put me down for £183.87 for June.I'm not a failure if I don't make it, I'm a success because I :tried!0

Here's the boring part - I've spent 55.5% of my annual grocery budget but we're only 40% of the way through the year  I'm never going to empty the freezer because I keep picking up stuff to go it there and then adding all the leftovers. This week's contributions included butternut squash soup, which turned out really well. I took advantage of most of the Ald! offer and now wish I'd got the lemons & limes for freezing to have with summer drinks.
(Sun's shining here.)
I have loads of eggs as I now have 5 hens laying and someone never turned up to collect theirs at the weekend, so I'm going to bake some meringues. That will help use up leftover whipped cream that I stuck in the freezer plus I'll make some more lemon curd, as it seems to keep quite well in the fridge.
Welcome to Boodle jr, hope mum & baby are both well.
Oops, almost forgot to say, May spend to date is £106.92, which includes the App F00d order. Must stop looking on their site when the newsletter arrives, I have enough cooking sauces to last a very long time. I don't think I've had to buy tinned tomatoes since my bulk stock-up in January as I no longer need them with everything already prepared in cartons, packets and jars.I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.
