    Hello

A mini update from me, I've just been shopping to get bits for next week and between two shops (2 sets of points vouchers for Mr T) Mr Shortie and I spent £12.97.

But..... we got for that loads including 2 loaves of yummy Braces bread, a big milk to last the week, grapes, pears, satsuamas, bananas, cauliflower/broccoli mix x2, nectarines, 2 small bags of organic potatoes, apples, butter and 4x reduced packs of beef mince

Not a bad shop! I love the MiL having a newly opened Mr T -the reductions are fab! :T

Off to update my sig now

    Afternoon all

Hubbies pay day today :Tso as soon as that housekeeping is in my sticky little fist -its off into the savings account.. I have developed a real thing about NOT taking money out of the bank once it is in there :p....

I can only see me needing cuumber, tomatoes and potatoes this week ...unless there is some major mishap -mind one of the good things about being out here is we never get unexpected guests arrive wanting feeding ;)...

I have just put the gas oven on for the first time in 10 months (since I got my remoska):D.... I have some baguettes proving as I type and Im affraid they have to go in the oven! I haven't made any in ages but I thought I would spoil hubby as they are amazing :p... it also means If I just make a batch every 2 weeks hubby can rotate through :-
    • hm tortilla wraps
    • hm bread
    • hm baguettes
    • pasta salad -great towards the end of the week and using up the last bits of cumber, pepper, part tins of sweetcorn and left over chicken etc ;)
    • and then salad with hm quiche, cold potatoes or the like..
    for his lunches at work...

Dinner tonight is tortilla wraps filled with caramalised onions, peppers, mushrooms and gyros meat..and garlic mayo(as I have used the last of the tzatziki -so will make that instead) and served with salad...

All the veggies seem to be doing well so far and I have the first flowers opening on a couple of tomatoes :j
right -now I have wittered on I will go and check the baguettes..
hope everyone is ready for another new month ...heck knows where the time is going

Have spent €78 since I last updated...leaves me the price of a couple litres milk between now and 31st...not sure I will make it, will not post final spend until later in week.

Mrs M...please put me down for 290 for June, must keep trying...have had several big bills which mean that I am down to rock bottom money wise.

The spending last week was unusually low.
The stupid 'cook together' last Sunday left enough food for first half of the week (not very good food). Then I found Mr. T selling packets of frozen battered turkeys for 12p :-) !!! Bought 1 for Thur and Fri dinner. The taste was horrible. How can people eat those regularly??
Spent £11 on the weekends. Still 1 week to go.

Hey everyone. Lost count of everything am afraid (my bubs finally arrived last week!) but from memory of the last couple of week's shopping bills think we spent around £150 for May, so just gonna declare that- so around £30 over. Am still gonna keep the same budget for June tho.

    Hi all,

Well I totally lost count this month but think I was around my target.

I'm going to try for £200 for June as we're away on hols for almost 2 weeks and will have different budget for that.

Month Started on Saturday when I spent £25 on meat and veg and £20 today in Tesco. Have ordered an online shop to be delivered tomorrow. Will update again then.

Signature updated to include todays spend of £8.62 in A!di - and I only went in for milk

They didn't have the cheap 1 litre bottles, so had to get a 4pt which added a bit to the bill. Also got some eggs and salad items to do omelettes for tea (didn't want to cook a full-blown meal as it's been warm and sunny here all day), and then picked up most of the ingredients to make another 2 batches of my thick veg soup for the freezer (making the most of the Butternut Squash being on Super 6 offer) which will take me well into next month. Still have a few portions left of the last batch, and what I'll make tomorrow (after nipping out for a few carrots and a white cabbage) with make another 18-20 portions - so that's lunches for at least half of next month sorted :T Also picked up some of the Super 6 Satsumas as I'm trying to increase my F&V count, and these are one of the few fruits I eat happily. (Forgot to pick up any bananas though!)

Still within target for this month - a budget of £119.50 means I should be at a total spend of £96.37 by now, and as I had my elder son home for a week my budget should have been increased to £132.10.

5 days to end of month, and I need the cabbage and carrots, some more milk, and will pick up some bananas. That should be enough to see us through to the end of the month, but I'm also heading to Mr M on Wednesday to use the second £5 off voucher - so need to do a quick stocktake tomorrow to figure out what I'm best spending on (already have enough rice, pasta, baked beans and tinned tomatoes for the rest of the year - plus cleaning products which is a different budget). Spending in Mr M is possibly going to push me over my declared budget for the month (depending on how close to £30 I manage as I only have £34.59 left for this plus the bits I need for May), but not the revised one and not my 'annual to date' one either (have a 'spare' £58.93 here) - so I don't mind adding this shop to this months totals :)

General question on Butternut Squash -- if I want to boil and blend it down at the end of the day, can I peel, seed, dice and freeze it? Just wondering if I can pick up a couple more ready for making another couple of batches of soup (to see me into July) that I don't have freezer space to make and store now

    Hi CW18

you can just peel, dice n freeze the butternut squash -but if you don't want to -you don't have to even peel it -the skin is edible ;)
Also if you wanted a stronger flavour -just cut them in half and place face down on a baking sheet and roast -then the skin will just peel off if you want it to.. and you will get a more intense flavour by roasting and not boiling...hope that helps :D
