Just to update my signature. We were naughty last weekend having chippy on Friday and Kebabs on Sunday (but we were camping all weekend with 22 Cubs). Nipped into Mr S today and picked up potatoes, dishwasher tablets and biscuits £4.70.
It's going to be a difficult ten days with only a few pounds left over.0 -
Was just wondering how many of you count takeaways in your grocery budget?
I'm not sure if I should do this or not?? (not that we get that many now :j)
We had a NSD yesterday but I'm sure I'll need bread and milk before this evening....
Youngest son is feeling really poorly, sick all last night (up every hour) and now has raging temp and headache, poor thing. He's completely off food so we're all trying not to eat in front of him, perhaps it'll stop OH and DS snacking all evening!!"There's a little witch in all of us"🔮🪬🧿DEBT FREE 06/2018Mrs SD’s Decluttering 2025 ⭐️ 🥇0 -
Mrsgibbs- I've been off work with that this week. Nasty. Felt as thought all my bones had been taken out and basked then put back in. I had flat lemonade and found that helped. Also swear by that bright, bright pink medicine which tastes like the smell of germolene if you can imagine what I mean. Settles the tum though.
Ventured out today - first day this week. Bought bread at bakers (£1.55!!! But looks v healthy) and 4 Granny Smiths at greengrocers so will add that to my total. I quite liked avoiding the supermarkets. Will try that again as I used to manage to fit in shopping at weekends. Bought the £3 bunch of chrysanths at Tesco - 40% extra. The last bunch have lasted 2 weeks and I've put them on the kitchen windowsill now for their last few days.
Good luck everyone with the last few days!

My younger GD started being sick on Tuesday afternoon - 15 mins after I got her home from her pre-school session !! She seemed OK yesterday daytime, but started again around 10pm last night. DD says she's been OK today - but she has slept most of it due to being up most of the night
Apparently there have been quite a few children off pre-school with it this week
As for take-aways..... we just don't do them! If DS has one for his lunch while at college it comes out of his money, but the only meal I've had out or as take-out since ?????????? was a trip to P.Hut that elder son paid for as my Mother's Day treat :T
If I did pick one up due to exhaustion/commitments etc., then it would probably come out of this budget - though I do have an "anything else" category I could use if at risk of over-spending here :rolleyes2Cheryl0 -
hi....good weather has disappeared and hail has replaced it.....um i was hoping for a bbq at the weekend:rolleyes:....we had the half price rump steak from sainsburys again for tea...2 nights in a row but it is very cheap and nice.....got a curry in the go for tomorrow......i like to make them a day early and they marinade in the fridge for a day and they seem to taste even more yummy...i do the same with chilli
there isnt much of may left which is handy as there isnt much money left....we have hardly any milk so will need some of that before much longer....there always seem to be something iykwim
take care

argh! I'm over budget already and my daughter was poorly a few days ago and ended up in hospital. I bribed her into accepting the needles when they took blood, by telling her that I'd buy her some shoes and she's seen the advert for Lelli Kellys!!! They only start at £39.99....think I'll have to mention to my DH that he'll have to put his hand in his pocket for that one...0

I'm thinking of joining the June grocery challenge but I can't decide whether to do a really big shop (enough for the month apart from fruit & veg) or to buy weekly. I do have a full size upright freezer and a small chest freezer so storage not a problem. What are your thoughts?***Dont save what is left after spending, spend what is left after saving***0

If my freezers are full of a good variety of meals (so I can menu plan for the full month with most coming from there), then I tend to do a monthly shop for any non-perishables I'm missing.
But generally my meals aren't planned more than a week ahead, and tend to be based on whatever Whoopsie (clearance) items I managed to pick up (and freeze) the previous week. So I shop little and often - or did until our local S/flds closed......
This month has been mostly from the freezers - and I've still got heaps left in them :rolleyes2Cheryl0
