Scotsaver...I would think the stiffado would be ok in the slow cooker -just not as "roasted" in flavour if that makes sense :p -and you won't need as much liquid either...

Thankyou for the lovey comments on my savings folks :o..aww shucks :o ... I have to say its down to this thread -before hand I did spend the €450 a month ...even now Im not sure "on what!!" ...but this thread and everyone who posts on it keeps me focused :D..oh and it helps that hubby will eat anything I put in front of him as long as its not apricots :Tand I will eat anything -including apricots :rotfl:

    Hi all,

    Just a quick update.

Sunday's shop came to £9.10, which leaves me £11.02 for the rest of the month (two shops). It was over target for the week because Asda was doing 2 for £3 on their 3kg bags of pasta, working out at 25p for 500g when their Smartprice pasta is 43p for 500g. Also, I forgot that (a) I have a free lunch tomorrow and (b) I'm not at work next week. This meant that I bought 8 yoghurts at 4 for £1, when I could have got away with just 4. I keep doing this with stuff for packed lunches, forgetting things like Bank Holidays and days off. Must get more organised, especially because it messes up my budget for the rest of the month!

    Cheers,
    Ro

I need some shopping but that can wait till Friday - oh no, must get some bread - will get some on the way home tonight after the meeting... :D Must be good and only buy bread...:o

Thanks everyone for your support & advice. :A

Unfortunately the £70ish for the 1st spend of ‘June’ is for the basics  – loo roll & toiletries; totally out of plain flour & eggs, nearly out of butter & cheese, some canned goods for the larder that I have none left at all. And so on …

Fortunately, there is still in the freezer 49 meal portions, 12 soup portions, 2½kg mince, 1 kg chicken breasts, 1kg sausages & another 3kg of assorted other meat & fish :o. And DD will be with her Dad for the 1st week of the month. So factoring that in, the months as a whole shouldn’t be too bad.

Payday is Friday & I have a half day (I had holiday to use up before the new holiday year from 1 June :p - not taking time off just to sort my groceries!), so there is time to tweak the list & hopefully I can shave a bit off and/or find some better offers.

Well, a bit unplanned but very yummy......

Mr Shortie's Mum & Dad came over on their way home from their holidays and got us all in fish and chips :T

It meant I ran out of bread (I only bought the loaf yesterday ) so Mr shortie popped to the corner shop and got us an emergency loaf for the boys lunches tomorrow, so a further £1.29

    But a very yummy dinner.

Ooooooo and half a chocolate birthday cake from my Mum & Dad

**slinks of to make a tea and cut a piece of cake, nom nom nom** :rotfl:

Evening all, just a quickie before going off to bed. Finding it soooo hard to fit a post in at the moment. The garden is keeping me on my toes, but is really beginning to pay off, I can usually pick a large bag of salad leaves every other day now and there are plenty of herbs and also just started picking Kale and Swiss Chard. The Rhubarb looks a bit sad though:confused:, but hopefully lots of stawberries and Broad Beans very soon.

I'm afraid the GC is suffering a bit this month as I am quite a bit over. We've been feeding DS1 for a few days as his OH is away for 10 days. I made a lovely large Lasagne for dinner tonight and we had that with salad from the garden followed by HM fruit salad and Yoghurt.

Not getting too many bargains at the moment but must admit I haven't done too much supermarket shopping. I really must try hardericon11.gif

Hope all of your budgets are going well -roll on the end of the month!

    Hi,

I'm getting lots of good ideas here.

Please could I be added to the list - €90 for the month.

I went shopping at the weekend and got basics in Tesco, plus a few treats. I spent €30 in total. Then spent €6 on homemade jams at a fete - yummy! They'll keep me going for ages. I also bought some plants but they come out of a separate budget for household stuff.

So this month I've spent €59.62/4€90. I have plenty of food for dinners until the end of the month but I'll need to top up on fresh stuff.
Trying to spend less time on MSE so I can get more done ... it's not going great so far! :)
Sorry if I don't reply to posts - I'm having MAJOR trouble keeping up these days!

I'm declaring at £147.82 for the month including 3 take aways!! This was on my target of £150. Just let a further £19 sneak in on a takeaway yesterday as had had a hard day with a business lunch meeting with no lunch provided . Curry was the perfect remedy!! Otherwise would have been well under target.

This month 23 May- 23 June I will change my budget to £300 to include a quarterley Costco shop.

This is great. Although I don't regularly post on the thread, it keeps me thinking about those small top up shops and keeping them small!!:rotfl:
