August grocery challenge: £50
Spent so far: £37.40 :A0 -
Declaring at £117.43 for May.
By splitting the shop across MrT & MrS I have reduced the estimated cost of the first shop of ‘June’ from approx £71 to approx £66. This is just basics, without any meat etc for main meals, as there is loads in the freezer already.
Will go shopping on Friday afternoon, when I have a half-day off work. If I can keep it below £70 I should be OK for the rest of the month, as will only need milk & fruit & a few bits for DD’s pack-ups. But I will confirm a budget for June after I have done the shopping.0 -
Decided to visit Mr M's yesterday my god the prices were ridiculous:eek:, thats it i'm never shopping they again(yeah right) , its cheaper in Sainsbugs.
So spent another wad of money on washing up liquid, coffee, weetabix(own brand)and cream.
So far still on target, even with spending loads of money on DS1's birthday parties.
I feel so ill today so i'm just going to pay a bill and veg out in front of the t.v0 -
Just been counting up my NSDs, and have come to the conclusion that the (temporary) lack of a local, large, cheap supermarket is doing wonders for me. Before our local S'flds closed (to be converted to a Mr M, due to open mid-July) I wandered down at least 5 days a week to check for Whoopsies, but not worth doing with just a C00p that's seeing a lot more trade at the moment.
Jan : 10 NSDs
Feb : 6 NSDs
Mar : 6 NSDs
Apr : 12 NSDs
May (to date) :10 NSDs, and I'm hoping to only need to go out once this week (tomorrow) and once (or possibly twice depending on milk) next week - so could get this up to 18 !!
Haven't been grocery shopping since Sunday (which was only a stockpile on a couple of items while I was passing Mr A in the car - wouldn't have gone otherwise), so have had 3 NSDs in a row this week - and hoping to not go out today making it 4 :T
rachelmk - congrats on the end of a regular payment :TCheryl0 -

Morning all
Just wish to DECLARE AT £413.96 - quite a bit over my £350 budget, but know that too many takeaways/eating out are to blame! Must try harder! Will spend some time today menu planning for next week and will do a price comparison shopping list on mysupermarket today - so I get the best possible prices when I do my first shop for the month tomorrow. Will do some baking/cooking later so we have some munchies for when we go away at the weekend. We will be having southern fried chicken, potatoes, salad etc. Will make some kind of mayo dressing also. May make a dessert of some sort not sure what though.
Keep safe and well and enjoy the Bank Holiday everyone.
