It is really a balancing act getting stuff in that I know will be needed against the fact that if it is in then DD will scoff it! I do put some stuff out of sight & she does always ask before taking anything, but she is growing fast & always hungry.

I know the feeling but it's not just the kiddies in my house but my hubby aswell..... in fact he's worse! (especially if it's a packet of choccy biscuits!):rotfl:

    Spent another £6, I got:
    2 packs crumpets
    cherry tomatoes
    frozen corn on the cob
    2 jars korma sauce
    cereal bars
    punnet of strawberries
    2 punnets of plums

Don't think £6 is gonna last me the rest of the month but I'll give it a go! I did spend alot when we had friends round but it's not too bad! This thread is totally stopping me spending more, was going to get some popcorn but resisted as I really want to stick to my budget - thanks everyone! We have plenty f food in so wil just need to buy veg and milk!

Hi everyone - had to log on to update my spends again - popped into Lidl to get some Carrots and ended buying a Free Range Chicken as they were 30% off, they had loads left but I don't have any more space in the Freezers. Would love to have bought a couple more as my Butcher doesn't sell Free Range Chicken - he says there isn't enough demand for them.

Noticed while I was in there that they have large bags of Spinach half price at 49p and 500g bags of Jersey Royals at 99p.

Dinner tonight is Sausages from the Butcher, mash, carrots, peas & sweetcorn, HM Yorkies and loads of gravy.:p

Off now to check what's happening in the Greenhouse - can't wait for everything to start producing, only thing I've had so far is Radishes, noticed on the Patio that large pot of Spinach Beet looks ready, will probably use that at the weekend - have a good day everyone.:D

    Morning all

Have just updated my sig.... really not good, have overspent by £63.96 - have stocked up on several different bits that will last quite a while, but what's really crippled the budget this month is eating out or takeaways - we really need to address this! Also takeaways have just had a price increase and we now get free items with our meal that we usually buy but have so much food some ends up in the bin (I'm really not keen on re-heating takeaway). Have my positive head on now .... we're going to a wedding this weekend and staying over so will only eat minimal food at home this weekend. Have done the menu plan for next week and have everything we need and more so should not need to do any shopping until my GC challenge month starts again next Friday.
PS If anyone has a breadmaker I made some Chocolate bread thinking it would be lovely - no-one really liked it - so had nearly a whole loaf of choc bread left, so put my GC head on and sliced it up put it in bowls and had custard or brandy flavoured sauce with it as a dessert - and everyone liked it! (How does that work!?????)
    Keep safe and well

hi...the sun has gone..its grey here...i popped into tesco this morning and they seem to be having a clear out...lots of yellow stickers on wine/cosmetics/freezer stuff...quite a strange mix but i got frozen cake platter for £3 scampi £1 there were lobsters for £3 pies cheap (cant remember how much) so might be worth a gook if u are passing

i got some strawberries yesterday and am going to make a flan with quik jel for tea...i got them when it was warm but hey a taste of summer in the grey

i have got a spag bol in the sc and it smells lovely...going to have it with garlic bread and salad for tea...i have been buying the passata sp from asda its only 39p and i find it enough to make a chilli or spag bol for 2 meals....which makes it cheaper than x2 cans of tomatoes

cw18...good work on the bread...i did similar with broccoli in asda ...when i came to use it it had gone really mouldy (it was within date)..i put it in the bin and then it occured to me to fetch it back to asda and they gave me double the difference back....i think as long as its in their date it should be edible...as long as iv stored it correctly my conscious is clear iykwim

    have a good day

Depends on the size and quality of the mushrooms. The really good quality ones I freeze whole if small, or sliced if larger than I'd cook whole in a sauce.

The lesser quality ones (normally the large value boxes on Whoopsie, or ones I bought and forgot about for a couple of days) I chop up roughly - perfect for bolognese sauce and such :)

I fry mine in a litlle oil or cook in the microwave before freezing. I get a lot from the fields around here in the late summer and use them throughout the year.

I spent £18.60 in Morrisons yesterday, mainly on fruit and veg and cheese. Payday is the 25th so I might keep within my budget

Hi all just came on top update signature, just spent £4.41 on shampoo, conditioner, lip balm and hand wash, it was all on offer in boots. Hopefully wont have to buy any more till the end of the month.
Also spent 85p in the corner shop on cat biscuits.

Will have to do another shop on Saturday for Brandon's (DS1) birthday party on Saturday, as well as go the halal butchers for some chicken legs. Might just do all vegetarian again like i did for Leto's birthday party hmmm decisions.

HI, had a NSD today. Just been reading through some of the posts though and seeing what other people here are buying. It's making me crave crumpets with loads of butter on - and fish fingers, haven't had them for ages so they're going on the next list!

    Hi folks,

I'm a bit behind the fair at the moment - just not been getting on the computer this week.

Anyway, went shopping on Saturday night - not a good idea to go when you are cold, tired and hungry  The bill came in at £24.23 and included various things that were not on the list, eg cashew nuts and a large beef lasagne!

So my total now stands at £54.88, leaving me £20.12 to last for the remaining 3 Sundays in the month. That gives me £6.70 a week to play with. Well, I managed three weeks at less than £6 per week back in March, so I'll just have to manage it again.

Really must try and get the hang of spending the budget evenly.

Hope all is well with all of you.

Just a quick update from me; I've spent 52.77 so far this month, including an App F00d order plus a couple of stockpile items. Still trying to work through the freezer and the hens are laying well at the moment, so there's not much I'll be needing other than milk. Fingers crossed I can get the monthly average back on schedule soon. Current year to date total now standing at £612.08, which I don't think is too bad for 3 adults and a stockpile :) It's just that we're only 5 months into the year and I've already spent over 6 months worth of grocery money - OOPS! :o
