...seriously would consider buying a cow if I had the room!

It's funny, DH and I were only saying the same thing the other day - I have a thing about birds so could never keep chickens, but I reckon I could handle a nice little Jersey or Friesan - wouldn't just save us the milk money (we use 6 pints a day at minimum here  ), but would also mean I didn't have to cut the grass :D

I would boil the egg the night before, while cooking rice. Then I have to take it to the office. No fridge on the bus. Then eat in the afternoon. That is some 18 hours. Doesn't seem to be very safe.

If there is no good solution I can find other ways to eat them. Don't worry.

Every night I boil an egg, make it into a sandwich in the morning, then take to work and eat around 2pm...i'm not dead yet

Hi all, I've lost track a bit this month as it's been hectic, so I have to rummage about for receipts later to fully update my sig.

Just had Mr S delivery though, it came to £95.33 before my £15 off voucher!!!!:eek: I didn't even need that much!

All cupboards, fridge and freezer are now bursting with food though, which is good, as we've had no bread for several days - lunch yesterday was a weird mix of out-of-date bulgur wheat with leftover feta and some horrible veggie sausages I received once as a substitution. It was just about edible though :o

Think I've overdone it on the fresh stuff - not sure it'll all get eaten before it goes manky, so I may have to work out anything I can freeze first. I was very impressed with myself at the weekend - we had a massive sweet potato, so I used half for dinner, and instead of leaving the other half to go manky in the fridge as usual, I looked up how best to freeze it and now have a lovely bag of chopped frozen sweet potato in my freezer. I felt so virtuous!! :rotfl:

HI just updating my sig, though I've only bought a loaf and a bottle of milk, spent £2.80, so not too bad.
I'll be doing a shop on Saturday though but not sure how much, still got loads of pasta and savoury rice packets to use up from the last shop at MR. M's where they were BOGOF.
Hope everyone's ok and doing some serious penny pinching xxx

    Needed milk but...

    A) Couldn't be bothered walking to the shop after a long day at work
    B) Didn't want to add to my total

I asked my flatmate if he would mind going for me and as an extra bonus he bought bread too :rotfl:

NSD on the groceries for me :j

    Hi everyone
It's miserable here today - more like November than May! Had a big shock when Scottish Power asked for the meter reading yesterday as they are going to put up our monthly payment by £20! I must get round to doing a price comparison soon and switch. It doesn't help that DH works from home so heating and electricity are in use all day.

It should focus my mind however when I do my shopping tomorrow. I have about £75 to last to the end of the month (which means two main shops) and we have visitors on the bank holiday weekend. I am getting a bit fed up with Sainsbury's as the quality of their fruit and veg is very disappointing, but I don't think I can afford to shop in Waitrose again this week!

Next week I am on a course for work and will have to travel even further and have a longer day. We are out on Saturday at a singing workshop so I won't have any spare time to pre cook stuff for the week - we may end up having beans on toast one night (DH can't cook!)

Off to update my sig. Have a good evening everyone.

Popped out yesterday for a few bits and managed to get a reduced bacon and leek quiche which I've frozen for a picnic we're going on this Sun. Also got some half price fish fingers (in MrT) and some other bits including toilet rolls and washing liquid. I've gone for the Persil bottle with £2 off. Anyway, it all came to just under £15 so I've added that to my sig. Things are fairly tight this month with a LARGE bill so am trying to keep the food shopping as low as I can. We'll be having a few baked potato and beans meals I think.
    Nearly half way there folks

In the last 5 days I have had 4 NSDs & the other day was just milk. Yay me!:j

Only 1 week to go, so should be OK. I had hoped that it would just be milk in this last part of the month but looks like I will need to get a few more bits for DDs pack-ups, as she has been snacking on stuff I had bought before.

It is really a balancing act getting stuff in that I know will be needed against the fact that if it is in then DD will scoff it! I do put some stuff out of sight & she does always ask before taking anything, but she is growing fast & always hungry.
