May 2009 Grocery Challenge

So I lost track of spending last week, and with DS birthday party and an impromptu (badly planned) picnic, I am already over target! So I'm now aiming to keep it under £300 til the 25th.
I am very bad at shopping properly, as I don't drive and it's a 40 min. walk to Morrisons and although we have an Aldi v. close by, they don't stock everything I want.
I have decided to get a Tesco delivery and see what I think. I had a couple of Asda deliveries last year, but didn't get into a good routine with it. Where does everyone get 'codes' from?A penny saved is a penny earned.

Spent € 25.97 yesterday, leaving me precious little to cope with 3 weekends, one of which will have all the family here for DGS 1's First Communion....we will all be out on the Saturday, but will have 7 extra mouths to feed on Friday and Sunday......!
Good luck to all

Did a small top up shop today & that should be the last for this month, though may still need a bit more milk.
I think part of my problem is that I hate to completely run out of anything & so if anything is even a little bit low I feel compelled to stock up again, even if it is not really needed. I did get a few more pack-up/snacky bits for DD, but I think that if she does just eat them all in a couple of days will have to make do with whatever bits I do have in.
She is with me this weekend, so we may do some baking together, which will give her a few more options.
As this month is nearly done I have now started on my shopping list for June!0 -
Well, I'm not sure how well/bad I will have done by the end of the month... I spent another £4.49 today

£9.70 spent in Asda tonight. Don't quite know how I did it because I feel I got a lot for it (though nothing much useful
). I got bread, milk, red delicious apples, 4 J2O, multi pack of Airwaves, pack of mini pepperami and 2 packs of Cadbury cereal bars at a quid for 6 (and they're about 50p for a single one in our local shop).
I seem to get cocky thinking I've tons of money with little month and I betcha am doing the same this month. I'm trying, trying to stay focussed though.Grocery Challenge M: £450/£425.08 A: £400/£.May -£400/£361 June £380/£230 (pages 18 & 27 explain)0 -
Hi
I haven't updated for a while I have done a big shop in Morrisons spent £48.70 have bought some cake and tablet from the tea trolley at work £1.04 and went out for my lunch today £10.45 (it was one of the girls at works retirement lunch so its a one off) All this brings my total spend so far this month to £70.71
There is enough stuff in the house for dinners for the next few nights and then we are away for 2 nights at a hotel with dinner and breakfast included so i don't intend to do another big shop until Thursday later if i can get away with it.
Only things i really need to get are some flora and something to take to a friends house when we go out on Saturday... am trying to think of something i can make but am working most of Saturday and would struggle to find the time

As i am now without a job, I have more time to shop which is a bad thing!
So trying something new this week.
Make a note of what we have run are running out of and then then I am next passing any supermarket, pop in and just get stuff on list!
When to the gym the other day, after nipped in for milk and veg, went to sign on yesterday so nipped into town center supermarket for ham, squash and bread.
Also ordered myself a wally trolley so I can exercise and shop!
Gym membership is paid until the summer, might not renew.
Keeping all the receipts, also still trying to get to the bottom of that freezer!0 -
Morning all:hello:
well, the suns trying its best to come out, so may be nice after all today. Had a lot of rain late yesterday and last night, so hoping the water butts are gradually filling up again.
Have updated siggy with what I have spent today so far as well. Popped into local grocers, as we`re out of spuds and was told the red ones were now £9:eek::eek:for a large 25kg sack, but being great shopkeepers they managed to get hold of washed whites for £6, so of course it would be rude of me to turn down such an offer and they will also deliver free for me:D:D. So as well as saving £3 it saved me lugging them back home.(how`s that for customer service). Anyway must read up on how everyone`s doing, catch you all later.Grocery Challenge 2013: July week 1 £90/£87.41

Ok.. i'm completely lost on what has been spent this month.. we were doing really well but then i have taken o/h shopping twice and now i have NO IDEA!!!!!!!!!!!! We are being more careful in some ways, no takeaways so far this month (hoorah!) but then i notice lots of crisps and sweets have crept into our shopping..(this explains my weight gain lol) on the other hand my tomato plants are loking good.. and DS is eating better as i've given up buying the jars as he seemed so restless after them? Need to get my apron out this afternoon to bake a cake for 2 Birthdays tomorrow and while i'm at it i shall bake us one or two to freeze! At a guess we're at £80 this month so i don't think we'll stay in budget!August: £149/£150
Sept: £200
