Managed to spend a further £17 in MrS today, so there really isn’t a lot left in the budget for the second half of the month. But looking back over my notes, this year at least when I have kept within my GC budget, I normally have about this much left at this stage & then just get milk plus odds & sods.
I have been doing a proper ‘big’ shop at the beginning of the month with the non-food & non-perishables and fresh for the first part of the month. Buy bits & pieces over the next two weeks, including what I may have missed from the ‘big’ shop. Then a top up shop half way through, and then hardly anything for the rest of the month – just fresh milk and a few odds & sods. So it is definitely still do-able.
Got some whoopsied TTD tuna steaks & TTD lamb cutlets (we have expensive tastes!:p) plus some whoopsied deli corned beef; these were all only about 1/3 off but with the cost of fish & meat this still makes a significant difference.
Also got some quiche slices, down from £1 to 20p (got 3 – all they had, great for pack-ups, though I usually make my own) & some New Covent Garden soup for 50p, down from £1.99, which will do for my lunch tomorrow when working from home.
The Walkers ‘meaty’ 18 pack was ½ price – me & DD each have a pack of crisps in pack-ups but don’t really like the regular mix of ready salted, salt & vinegar and cheese & onion. And Country Life butter, which is currently 75p a pack, so cheaper than the basics. And a few other bits & bobs – soon adds up!0 -
Quick update on my grocery challenge for the month - amount spent currently stands at £23.47.
Unfortunately that includes a £2.99 Boots meal deal on Saturday (in town most of the day) and £4.25 on lunch spent in the local deli on Monday (totally disorganised).
Even more unfortunately, it is a five Sunday month, which means that I've got about £12.88 a week left for the rest of the month. I'm glad that I decided that meals out come out of the entertainment budget as I am going out with friends next week!
Need to do some more batch cooking for the freezer as well.
All the best,

Have updated my signature with the top up spend I did in Mr A on Monday. Considering what I spent it didn't go far but it was some essential household bits (I never realised how expensive 'feather' dusters were) and some ingredients that I forgot for the cakes I was baking to take into work.0

Away at center parcs for weekend so bit late this month.
Managed to take everything needed from home to provide brekkies, lunch and dinner for 5 so really pleased, only had to buy 4 extra pints of milk. All out of Aprils budget:D
As I'm back to work I've allowed a little extra as need lunches for me too now. No microwave/toaster at office which is a pain but never mind.
My kitchen window lettuces are now providing 25% of weekly need and first radishes should be ready next week and other bits later this month, every bit helps;)
Good luck everyone0 -

Went to Asda yesterday to get a few bits for the month. On my list was 24 toilet rolls at £8.34, but they're cheeky as a 12 pack is £4!
Needless to say I got 2 x 12 pack.
Might go for my "big" Tesco shop later. Then i'll just need my weekly perishables. Already got a few bits for the groc challenge, will update my totals later.

Bought a few bits in town to add on. Fate told me to go and get 2x packs veg grills from Iceland, also bought linguini from M&S total spent £3-29. Then when I went to make planned tea lemon chicken (from left over chicken), I dropped it all on the floor. oops! So we had veg grills and linguini with tomato sauce .:D Noticed some bargains on my rounds. Got 4 choc ice lollies, with mint icecream in the middle and the choc bit at the end (like a feast ice lolly) for £1 for kids treat. Also noticed on Mr T's online persil non bio soap powder reduced till 19th from £6 to £4 (30 washes). Ordered some top up shopping online for 18th May with Mr T (sent money off coupen). Noticed some of their prices sneaking up since I last looked the night before last:mad:. Going to go have a look aroung Aldi later. Report back tomo. as will prob buy super 6. Hope you all have a good day.:DGrocery challenge june £300/ £211-50.
