We’re getting a Lidl! :j
At the moment we have 3 MrTs, all bigger than any other supermarket in town, a medium MrS & a small Somerfield. As it is a small market town to get to a MrA, MrM, Lidl, Aldi or Netto would mean driving at least 10 miles to another town, and with my small budget it is not justified.
Won’t open until the new year but it will be in the same road as my parents live in, which is where I park the car when I am commuting into London. So it will be great.
Just a small spend on milk & bread today. Hoping to stay out of the shops over the weekend; DD is going to her Dad’s, so plan is to do some baking for pack-ups.0 -
Evening all
Just an update of the spends, really really scary! Spent £89.28 in MrA's today soooooo many prices had gone up and then I couldn't get everything I wanted so had to stop off at MrT's on the way back so spent £3.96 in there. Have bought extra this week as we are going away for a couple of nights and it's younger DS's birthday on Sunday. Have meal planned for next week which at present doesn't look too bad - but will really have to be good for the rest of the month if I'm not going to blow the budget completely!
Have a great BH weekend everyone, stay safe and well
Kind regards

Good morning
Spent another £20.73 yesterday nut that should really be it for the BH weekend, including a BBQ. My lovely mum came round with a food parcel yesterday - she buys BOGOFs etc and splits them between me and my sister, so we are now completely stocked up on tea, coffee, biscuits, marmalade and jam for the month:D
Off to work now. Have a good weekend everyone!GC April 93.92/5000 -
A day late, but I'd like to set £170 for May please Mrs M. This is food plus household stuff but not alcohol.
I'm away for 5 days and DH will be on his own, so that may cost more as he'll probably do more ready made stuff as he's studying every evening. We are pretty well stocked though so we'll see!Mum to gorgeous baby boy born Sept 2010:j0 -

Hi all I need help I have whole sea bass, what is the best way to cook it please:D bought 3 of them as they were realy reduced £5.50 down to £1.50 each from Mr S the other week and stuck them in the freezer but now stuck for ideas.0

hello - can I please be included for £160?
Spent £17.35 so far on a veggie box for Wed and a few bits at MrM - salad, cheese.
I've been using up freezer stuff this past week and kind of lost the plot of adding my smaller totals so I think I was under budget last month but not sure.
Anyway, I've found that I'm being very inventive with my meals, using what's there. I've been cooking 2 nights' worth of rice and having stirfry with a real mix of things thrown in. When I get REALLY whoopsied veg eg organic green beans for 8p (this doesn't happen often), I just put the packet into the freezer. Stirfrying them works for me as the other stuff is crunchier and you (well, I) don't notice if the mange tout or beans have less bite.
Another stirfry with some frozen salmon for me for tea so I don't think I need any shopping today. Might pop out for a chicken tomorrow but it's only me here until Mon night so I'll see.
Good luck this month everyone

Morning everyone
Well, I embark on my first spend of the month today. I feel as though I need tons of stuff. I can't seem to catch a break with meat though. Loads of times in the past I've been able to stock up on yellow sticker but not so much lately. My Asda Manager is obviously too good at knowing what to order.
I've been trying to find the freezer thread to help me more with frozen dinners but I can't find it. Any ideas? I think my problem for April is I'm bored with what I've been eating. I need some variety:p. God, I sound petulant!
DS and I have loved HM mac & cheese and tuna pasta these past couple of nights but DH turns his nose up. Guy's a weirdo:rotfl:I think he's sabotaging my effortsGrocery Challenge M: £450/£425.08 A: £400/£.May -£400/£361 June £380/£230 (pages 18 & 27 explain)0
