Well, reporting back from the lunchtime trolley dash....

Managed to spend £6 in Iceland on a bag of Quorn sausages (£2), cheese crispbakes (£1), wafer biscuits (£1) (for OH) and 2 big bottles of squash for £2 - Kia Ora as well, good bargain I thought.

Then in Aldi I picked up bits for brunch tomorrow (saus, bacon, eggs), some posh bread, butter, spready cheese, peppers, fajita kit, salad and salad potatoes for £8.90 - not bad I thought?

So a total spend of £14.90 so far.

Thought I'd pop to Farm foods on the way home and the F&V shop to see if I can get a few bits cheaper than Mr Ts.

Have looked at the meal plan and will write a list to just buy the extra bits we really do need not just wander aimlessly round Mr Ts tomorrow and end up spending £40 when really a tenner would have done.

    Hey all

Have just done my BIG shop for the month, needed to pick up fruit and veg, yoghurts, cereal bars and all my BM ingredients. also needed bits and pieces for bunny. (PS and flowers as have a viewing on my house tomorrow :j )

So first shop and hopefully only BIG shop = £43.90. quite pleased with this, got some good deals too. and it's alot less than i have spent on groceries recently, i've been a bit of a pick up what i fancy at the time type of girl, now i'm a do i need it/ will i waste it type of girl)

Probably would have spent more but Asda and Sainsburys were SO busy, it was doing my head in, so gave up.

Am going to update sig and then make a meal plan for the month! :T

    Afternoon all,:hello:

my first spends of the month is £4.01, on baked beans, milk, papers. I spend quite a bit on booze as well, but this will come off the yearly budget as it is a bulky item and is suppose to last more then a couple of months:rolleyes:.

Sorted out my freezer and will be using up a chilli concoction and tomato concoction together and some veg that`s seen better days, so may roast these.

Hope everyones enjoying the good weather and hoping it lasts over the bank hols. Off to update siggy, see you all later.

Hi all, hope everyone is doing well; I haven't had chance to read or post for the last 3 weeks.

My budget for May is £225 again, fingers crossed I can come in under budget this time.

Unfortunately, after 2 weeks out of the office, I came back to work last Friday to discover that I'm going to be made redundant in the next few months, which came as a complete :eek::eek::eek:. Our entire department is going, and I really had no idea that anything was on the cards. At least we've all got a bit of a notice, so I've spent the last week frantically sending out my CV and trawling the internet for jobs. I've got professional exams in just over 2 weeks too, so I've lost the plot a little bit!

Anyway, must try and get the food spend down a bit this month, as we need to start making all the savings we can - we're already skint on 2 salaries . I'm afraid the alcohol spend has gone up a fair bit in the last week though! :o

Hi, id like to join this month if thats ok? I do the GC in my head but go over as , well i just do, so i need to be more disciplined. ON a diet so baking nothing this month so that shoudl save. But i do have to buy loads of staples as my SC has run down so much! I need beans, tinned toms, rice, couscous, 2 types of flour, tuna, lentils and yeast and probably pasta! Have the urge to buy loads at once but trying to be a bit more rational - say 3 tins of tinned toms instead of the 6 i usually keep in the cupboard.

Doing a meal plan, so hoping to plan it much better

I'll hastily go for £60 just for me. I have a kitty but she is on prescription food every 3-4 mths so just keeping that separate. £60 is usual and i dont have to buy SC stuff, so it sure will be a challenge!

Going to buy 2lbs of mince and trying to think how far i can stgretch it. I got 7 portions out of 1.5lb but i think i defo could have got more so that is the plan. Must go mince thread hunting.

    Thanks so much.

    Edit - so far

Cheese x 2 £5 *should do two months i reckon*
    Milk £1
    Strawbs 2.50
    Apples 90
    Toms 90
Eggs 1.80 (12 free range woohoooO!)

    12.10

    Zip.
