  • Sparrowhawks kill as many birds as the domestic cat.
Cats keep the local mice and rat population at bay.
The advice from conservationists is keep your cat in at night as dawn and dusk are the main predatory times.
Foxes come into gardens even in urban areas and leave their excretia and a dusting smell around.

whether i should/or shouldnt have to wear gloves i choose to , considering that a cat may have pooped in my garden ( and done a natuaral thing ) and rather than kill the cat i choose to wear gloves it makes sense to me to take these precautions just like every other thing in life for instance you would use a condom if you didnt want to catch an std wouldnt you ! i mean you shouldnt have to but being sensible you would.
its all common sense live and let live and take approprate steps to make sure your life is not made horrible there is certainly no need to kill an animal because it done a natuaral thing like kill a bird

Why is it that dog owners have legal responsibility now for scooping up their dog-poo and placing in a suitable receptacle - whereas this doesn't apply to cat owners? Surely there is no difference between keeping dogs or cats as pets.

Because cats don't usually poo on the pavement where people have to walk.

    Me too!

I am a cat lover. My parents have always had cats. I do not, and could not have a cat. This is because I am away with my job alot and not because I do not like cats.

But.... I do not like cat poo. Especially when I don't even have a cat. I live in a terraced street where almost everyone has a patio-ed garden, and I have a real garden with soil. Inexplicably almost everyone also has a cat, and in the cat world, my garden is known as the local PC. They even sit and watch me whilst I garden awaiting the freshly cleaned loo. I tried everything: waterpistols, smelly things (which didn't work), etc etc. It was suggested by someone to spread glass around (but I would never do that), and finally I have tried something which works:

I covered every single bit of soil in chicken wire. It looks weird when it is bare, but the plants grow through it, and apart from one cat who did try to poo on top of it, it has worked.

It makes weeding a bit of a nightmare, but at least I don't get covered in sh*t.

Good advice - longer if possible. Think of it from the gardener's point of view - as soon as you dig a fresh plot of earth, it gets littered by stinking cat c rap

hahahahhahaha it annoys me when neighbours complain about trivial things. I had a letter from council saying my dog was fouling on the street!! Well she never walks round here we take her to the local dog park!!! in the car!!

So you show your child that because he is old and sick your poor cat is to be 'tolreated' - mmmm well good you won't be rehoming another.
I haven't said how I treat the cat in front of my child, so don't be so ignorant. You should try asking how many cats are killed by the RSPCA every year instead.

My 2 year old daughter is more important to me than any cat. No doubt that will upset a few fanatics. Tough.
