  • Good morning all you lovely peeps

Right, as I only joined in Sept my Sept total was £2.10 bless me!

For October I would like to set myself a target of £20 to make in loose change. That will then be paid off my evil Tesco CC. I can't wait to get that closed! Re worked my sums this morning and I have knocked 3 months off my DFD for a mini goal. Every little helps. Oh - of course it does mean I have to find more money to pay it off though :rotfl:

Keep going peeps - we will all be there one day xxx
  • After my failure in September, I'm sticking with my £40 target for October. So far this month I have added £2.78 to my pot, so here's hoping!

    Hello all

I'm new to this part of the site! I've decided to start saving my spare change up and put it towards my debts. I don't have huge amounts to clear. I have a hefty student loan that I'm trying to ignore as much as possible but my focus is to clear my £1400 student overdraft (which thankfully is interest free for 12 months) hopefully with a bit of commitment, I can pay this off within the interest free period.

I know it's not wholly MSE to pay the 0% debt off rather than save the money and pay it off at the end of the term but it's really getting me down so I'm willing to forgo my negligible interest. Not sure how much a realistic goal is to start off with.

Do you guys track what goes in the pot? Empty it once a month or whatever? Or just keep chucking it in until it's full?

I think everyone does it differently - personally I keep track of how much is in there and set myself targets for the month. For example this month I've challenged myself to add £40 to my small change pot, which works out to about £1.30 every day. I post updates to let people know how far I've got. I bank it either when I have five bags or when I feel like it! I should be paying two bags in later.

    £3.31 / £40
