Problem with Hermes Delivery Services

It would likely be a case of that is reflected in the price. I can't imagine it being a majorly cheap service with the fact that one trip now turns into 3 for pretty much every parcel.
It has alot of potential pitfalls, but used correctly could be revolutionaryy -- more so for more valuable parcels.
But I am willing to bet the farm that that cost will never be passed on to the couriers themselves. They are already expected to do three visits for free and if they don't delver on the last call, they don't get paid at all.The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -

I'm really not sure how these people make money tbh. Our hermes courier said he delivers about 80 parcels per day, so about £800/month based on Mon-Fri less expenses. Not sure what the average is for a Hermes driver so maybe he's just got the short straw, but how he makes ends meet at the end of the month is beyond me!
I'd be inclined to agree it wouldn't affect their rates for delivering the parcel, at most maybe a bonus if they are delivered within a time period as they are if the Next deliveries are delivered correctly.0 -

I'd say it is even less than that. When I was doing it last year, I was using about two gallons of petrol a day. At today's prices that's about thirteen pounds a day. If he is doing eighty parcels at forty pence a pop, that's twenty three pounds a day, probably taking him about five or six hours to do.The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -

40p, here I am thinking it's 50p for some reason. Jesus, just gets worse.0 -

Would the return back to seller after 3 visits not count as a job finished for the courier, I would expect some payment for effort.Power is good, but then you get the bill....0 -
They were delivered to a secure location, to which the courier informed you.
The bin doesn't have a lock, anyone on the street could have taken the parcels thus not a secure locationThen don't order things for when you will be out.Courier companies like Hermes don't have depots where you can collect things. That is why they are cheap and the reason why retailers use them. If you want that kind of service, pay more for your deliveries.Power is good, but then you get the bill....0 -

A bin sounds quite safe to me. How Much rubbish have you had stolen recently?I ordered for a next day delivery, and waited in all that day it should have arrived, it was the courier that decided which day to deliver and I wasn't informed of his/her intentions if I was I could have saved a trip for them.
It is possible the arrangements are next "working" day. It is probable they although they deliver on a Saturday, they don't consider Saturday to be a working day. There could have been a delay from the supplier, or a query on the size and weight of the package.I did pay for a service ,next day, the retailer picked the courier and after researching and reading forums post event I see that this one will not offer next day, thats something I have taken up with the retailer.
Hmm, seems less and less likely that the retailer has been completely honest with you. Maybe you should reconsider the faith you have placed in their promises of communicating with the courier. The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -

No. They get absolutely nothing, zilch, nada, beggar all, unless the parcel is actually delivered. The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -
The bin is a safe place? Are you kidding me? Bins are for rubbish, not a place to store your nice brand new things you've just spent your hard earned cash on. While I sympathise that a lot of the drivers for couriers are on low wage, I really hate for my parcels to be delivered to a bin! And I would feel the same if my postie decided to do this. I live in a not so good area, according to Hermes and HND they've both delivered parcels to my bin. Needless to say both went missing. One I suspect went with the bin men. The other I think the local hoodlums spotted.
Surely, if you want it to be left in a safeplace, then you should specify that with the company sending it out. Like my catalogue, I've stated that my parcels can be left with my neighbour, although I'm home most of the time.
It turned out my parcel had been left with a neighbour at the other end of the street and she came up to my door with it last night. But the courier had still signed my name. Which I do object to.
And yes, ordering stuff online, I try to be home for it being delivered, unfortunately it's not always possible when you don't know when it's being delivered.4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0 -
If a driver doesn't get paid unless the parcel is delivered, then there's the reason why there seems to be so many false signatures being reported.0
