Rickyzonic I think you seriously need to see things from a customers point of view. We order things from the internet because in a lot of cases, well for me personally anyway, I'm ordering things I can't buy locally. Why should I have to waste my precious annual leave on taking a day off to wait in for a delivery. I'm not saying I can't see the issues you face with companies tightening up on the delivery of parcels however that is not the customers fault. It's about time these companies woke up to the fact we are in the 21st century and sort out how to deliver parcels to working people. There's a gold mine of a business out there for anyone starting a delivery company that deliver in the evenings or for someone to create a product that allows parcels to be securely left. I order off the internet and do so because I am more than happy to collect from the courier depot either before or after work if a Parcel can't be left. I have 24 days holiday a year and go to see my family 500 miles away for a week twice a year this leaves me with 14 days leave and I order a lot more than 14 parcels a year!

parcel deliveries for the masses are done on one size fits most basis.
what you want are bespoke services.
what you want already exists, but companies dont want to use them
they use the cheapest option that works most of the time
BTW,not everyone works during the day.........

No but a significant number do! I would say in our street 90% are all out at work during the day. I would also be prepared to pay slightly higher delivery charges to have it delivered after 6.00pm. The supermarkets can do it so why not delivery companies? I've never been offered the choice.
As for one size fits most by my satement above that 90% are out during the day shows it clearly isn't fitting most. With a population of appx 65 million there appx 25 million in work appx 8million children of school age, appx 12 million retired that means over 50% are working or at school, another 18% retired (probably the least active online orderers) so the "one size fit's most" is currently targeting appx 32% of people which is not most by a long stretch.

    try reading again.

its about price. you might be willing to pay extra but the mass majority go with the cheapest prices

I would be interested in knowing which companies offer evening deliveries as I haven't come accross any when I've been looking at delivery companies to deliver my products. I have a business that I run in the evenings and weekends that I hae to use couriers for and whilst I've seen many thar guarantee next day and before 10.00am I haven't seen any offering evening deliveries.

There's a big difference between a supermarket delivering your groceries from your local store to a courier. For a start, do you think if it wasn't for the fact you have just spent about £50 on their other products they would still be operating delivery vans and making a profit? Thats why they can pinpoint the delivery within 2 hours.

RMs timed deliveries don't including, but unfortunately when presented with a delivery charge of £4 or £10, customers tend to choose the former then complain when they're not home. Delivery charges are something people don't like paying.

Thank you but I was looking for companies I can send my goods through rather than companies I can buy from.

But it seems you and your fellow purchasers would not be willing to pay the extra for the service you want. I am pretty sure the couriers would be delighted to offer you the service you require, if they were paid three pounds a parcel.
The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark
